Hi, I just turned 40, so life's just begun :D

Right on! I'm 41 now and I've been playing CIV and it's clones since CIV1 came out - I can still remember reading the preview in a game magazine.. I knew right then this was the game for me, and I was right! Ran and bought it immediately - long time ago now, can't remember the year...

Since then I've tried them all: CIV2, the expansions, ToT, CTP, CTP2, SMAC, CIV3 and now PTW...
Guess I'll still be playing CIV XIII at age 81, too - unless either the series or I give out first!:p

I assume we are talking physical not mental age here ;)

at 39 I/m in the older crowd - isn't it great that there is such a mixed age range for the game and here in the forums!

I first played CIV2 when I moved to the UK in 1998 and I got hooked. Never heard about 'computer games' when I was back in Brazil (what a waste of time!!!). Also tried them all, TOT, CTP, CTP2, CIV3 and PTW. Never got bored. Been playing other games now and then, when husband goes and buys one, but ALWAYS go back to CIV. Tried GOTM for the first time in Feb and I loved it. This time trying to keep the saved games to submit results.

By the way, I will be 31 next month!

I very much agree.I am 22 myself ,and i love the variety of age groups on this forum.I think Civilization is about the only game that attrackt so many age groups ,wich is good ,especially if you ever been to a Counterstrike forum youll learn to value this forum and it's people.

I'll be 40 in August. I never played Civ 1 or 2, just kinda missed it. I played Colonization and then SMAC. SMAC I really liked! I dabbled in Call to Power before Civ 3 came out. I play more in the winter months. Currently, I'm pretty addicted :-)

20-30.

My partner tells me I'm too old to play.

Just turned 33. . .

Kinda interesting. . . .the people I thought were older are pretty young, and the people I thought were younger (than they are) are older (than I expected). . .

Great thing about these 'anonymous' environments. . . You see the person, not the age, race, creed, nationality. . .I could go on. . .

It had also gotten my attention so I googled it. One of the googles is (hope you don't mind...) :

Illegitimis non carborundum: phrase of Roman law, Dig. 19 tit.2 s.13, referring to the legal doctrine whereby illegitimate children could not avail themselves of the right, granted under Theodosius and later emperors, to free medical care for gum disease and tooth loss incurred as a consequence of grit in flour from the imperial mills distributed by the praefectus annonae.
Glad I didn't rely on google to pass Latin. LOL.
Actually, a native Latin speaker might not agree, but it's "don't let the b*st*rds" get you down."

Whew! Thanks for making me feel young again, Padma and the other old farts!

I'm just about to enter the 30-40 group range, and I hope can can keep civvin' 'til the day I die.

36 here, Only been playing since November of last year. Many years will follow

It is even more wicked when you go head-to-head with people of the same age group as your parents or your teachers - shows that experience is does not always take the cake!

Not sure why you wouldn't feel young at 29!
I can't remember who said it - memory's the second thing to go :) - but I always keep this thought in mind. "Old age and guile will win over youth and enthusiasm every time."

Apparently, at 44, I'm not too old. Been playing Civ off and on since the first version came out (whenever that was).

I still get addicted periodically.

At 81 I'm probably the oldest Civ fanatic...bought the first version of Civ as soon as it was released and been updating and playing now and then ever since. I agree that we elders probably have more staying power...my son and grandson have already pretty much burned out on Civ3 and aren't going to buy PTW. Had my prostate fixed so i wouldn't have to leave the game so often...nah, not really.

AW, stole the oldest from me... at 66 I was the oldes on a pole about a year ago...
Bought Civilization the first week it went on sale, but got hooked on Pirates...
My first game: Adventure on a Heath89 HDOS.

I'm only 26, but I've been playing the Civilization series for, let's see,... about half my life now! :)
