Hmm, well, notice that no one voted for that option... :)
I'm pretty sure that I did see someone in MP say that they were 8 yrs old, though. Was pretty wierd... They sure sounded like they were 8, though. Typed slow, bad spelling, etc.

(By the way, I am just joking)

Now if I am 20 or 30 or 40, which box am I supposed to check?
Good point. I have made slight changes to the poll to make it more exclusive. :)

On the forums, we all talk about civs being about equal. Isn't it also good to keep discrimation about ages off the forum?

I don't see anyone discriminating against anyone based on their age (except maybe for some players' spouses ;))

If, however, you're questioning why this poll is necessary, the answer is "because some people are interested."

Yaaay! :) Much better now. Fortunanely for me I didn't fall within the questionable ages (such as 15, 20) so I don't have to change my vote.

My kids aren't bad spellers, necessarily, but they are slow. They sometimes IM me at work, and I think they've gone on to other things and bam. . .I get a reply. No biggie, tho.

My 8YO is asking me about Civ3. I"m thinking of starting him on Civ1, see how he does. Then move him up to Civ3. His favorite game right now is Godzilla, Destory all Monsters Melee. . . sad to say, he can be me on that. For now. . .;)

Glad I didn't rely on google to pass Latin. LOL.
Actually, a native Latin speaker might not agree, but it's "don't let the b*st*rds" get you down."

It's actually "don't let the b*st*rds wear or grind you down." If you're going to mangle Latin, at least mangle it correctly.

BTW, I took Latin when I went to a Catholic high school many years ago. :grad:

I don't feel so bad now that I am in the second highest age group :D

Wrong end of the group but amongst a gently aging crowd... NOT!

14 years old. Been Civving since about a year ago, when I borrowed Civ2 from our local library. I got Civ3 for my birthday, less than a month ago, and it runs (barely) on my 400mhz celeron. I also just got Half-Life, so I'm not playin Civ as much as I was.

But torrasue, I'm not your brother ;)

I think the Latin was mangled to fit the original English thought.
My Latin magistera was also the school librarian. Similar mindset to the nuns, I'd guess. To this day, if I can't get to sleep, I just start reciting in my head, "hic, hae, hoc, huius, huius..." and I'm out like a light!

26. Been at it since 1998 so i'm 37 times better at Civ2 than 3. I think it's got a sh*tload to do with actually having a job now and not being able to play for 6 hours straight like at uni.

I've just turned 41 which puts me in the highest age bracket. I've been playing since Civ on the Amiga, I reckon I will still be playing when Civ 10 comes out - it's not really an age thing it's attitude.

Age 27, also an Amiga Civ player. That must be going on for 50% of my lifetime playing Civ. :)

Don't worry for that... I'm playing Civ from the very first version (DOS Civ 1) and I've tried every one of what came after it , including CTP I &II Test of time etc...I keep on playing with Civ III and I'm young enough to expect the following items of that great adventure. I'm only 66 and I'm sure I ain't the oldest.
Shinoui from Paris.

@Planetfall: Interesting point, but it still gives a nice bell curve as is. :)

However, I don't really agree with you that ageism exists here. Sure, we all joke about Padma now and then, but for the most part, if anything, there is probably ageism in the other direction. Goodness knows, I've seen some posters whom I simply dismissed as "some pimply-faced teenie."

Nice new avatar, BTW.
