14 here, first got addicted at age 9 on Civ 1.

I just had to reply to this one (and registered at last to do so). I am 38, and have been playing sice Civ I, probably 10 years now?

The fun part is my 8 year old son is getting into it now in a BIG way! You are never too young, or too old. A long attention span is rare for one so young, but then again he likes Quake too.

My wife used to complain a bit about the amount of time I spent on my computer. Now I use my computer to make plenty of money to pay for the house, pool, school fees, etc, so no complaints any more!

Cheers

Im 16.

Id rather play civ than go out or anything, its the most addicitng game...

hmmm... 19 now... and i started playing civ back when the ORIGINAL civ came out... and i cant remember how far back that is... but, i guarantee that someone here knows... so THAT's how long i've been playing civ... i just started playing civ 3 about a month ago, because i never had a computer good enough to play it, but i do now...

27 and have played Civ since Civ1 on my Amiga (that must have been 10yrs ago?) and I guess I will play on as long as Sid is alive and gives us new games to play c

I've been looking through this thread for a while now and its just lovely to see how this games fascinates ALL age-groups!

Next poll maybe should be if you are male of female?

I'm 55 and you may asking why is this old man playing a young mans game. Men and women in there 80's play chess. Its because of the effect it has on the ability to use the brain and exercise it. This game is better than chess for someone like my self who plays the game as a single player sometime late at night. With this game I have instant access to working on strategy and seeing instant results without the hassle of trying to find another player at 1AM in the morning. Good games of this sort are hard to come by.

Geardy, look back many pages, and you will see that the oldest respondent so far is 81! This game obviously appeals to a very wide range of ages.

The best aspect of this poll, for me, has been the proof that I'm not the only "old fart" playing this. Heck, I'm far from being the oldest! :D

I've already had it stipulated in my will that I want my computer and Civ3/PTW manuals and disks put in my casket with me...and I'm only 27.

There have been many polls on that, and it's usually only 10 people are girls and the rest are guys. And usually more guys come here than girls so it's already skewed.

I think the next poll should be-

-WHERE YOU LIVE
-COMPUTER TYPE
-FAVORITE CIV

12 i am a big comp game addict cant wait til my parents get me civ3 xpansion

At 54 I also fall in the upper range. Have been playing since CivI,
about 1992, when I bought a new 386SX just so I could play. In fact it seems that my new computer purchases seem to happen every time I buy the newest version of CIV!

JAILEM, are we living the same life? Also 54, bought a new computer for Civ 1 (and a new one for Civ 2). Thought I'd use Civ 3 for another new one, but the darned game runs fine on my old machine.

Several of us middle-aged geezers here. I'm 55.
