Anyone buy this game or interested in it? I don't think I ever played a Diablo game, but I enjoyed this game. I think having a pet that fights alongside you (You can have either a wolf dog or a lynx) and can carry your stuff back to town to sell it while you stay in a dungeon in pretty cool too. Also, your pets can gain ability bonuses and transform into different things if you give them fish. You can also equip them with some things. It is a $20 game, but I think it is fun. I tried the demo tonight and bought it after playing the demo for about half an hour. I got it on Steam, and it is a download only game. I think you can find the game on the official website for it too and buy it there, but I'm not sure.

It's a good time-waster. :goodjob:
It basically copied everything it could from diablo1, diablo2, and anything that was shown in diablo 3 trailers. They took these and put them in the game universe that looks and feels like Fate (where you had a kitteh or a puppy!) and voila, Torchlight. But this is not surprising because the game was made by some people who made Diablo1 and Diablo2. (EDIT: oh and the music is composed by Matt Uelmen - even tho this talent kinda faded after Diablo1 /EDIT)

Anywho despite these, it's a surprisingly nice game. As copying things from these games doesnt make it suck. Especially while we wait for D3. :)

I am enjoying Torchlight very much although the name keeps tripping me up because I am watching the series Torchwood also. :)

I'm downloading the demo on Steam now. I looked at the screenshots and the first thing I noticed was how colourful the game looks. especially when compared to other modern games.

I just got it, and I love it. I am playing a vanquisher. I have a few questions for people; can you respec if you don't like how you have spent your points? And if I want my pet to be a meat shield what skills should I give it? I am only level 13 so if I have to start over thats not a big deal its just I don't want to be heavily investing points in skills if I can never respec like in D2.

Can't respec by default, but there's a mod made by one of the developers that adds respec potions to vendors' inventory. Pet mastery is a must have if you're going to turn him into a tank. Be sure to fish a lot too, maybe you'll get one of those 3600sec or permanent fish

Steam says I've played 6.7 hours but I haven't got very far at all. Playing as a Vanquisher using a pistol and a shield

Okay, thats fine I quess, I only wasted like 2-3 points just grabbing the different skills to see what they did. So far I like ricochet and explosive arrow. I have 2 unique guns so far, 1 pistol 1 rifle but I got a really good 2 handed rifle and it has more dps, like 17 life per hit and is fast as heck. Anyone have any idea what spells I should look out for? Is that life leach spell better then the self heal? should I get heal all? What are the charm spells and why do I have a mastery skill for them? Right now I have the one that increases elemental damage for 30 secs and fireball, which I use in conjuction with explosive arrow and then I ricochet if they are in a line or to finish them off. My pet has summon fire sword ( just 2 have a second skill) and level 1 self heal but I want to give it something else. Should I give it heal all and revenge? Heal all and elemental protection? The spell aspect is what I am having the most difficulty with, is there a list of all of them and what they do somewhere?

No heals even for the pet? the spells I have access to right now are heal all 3, summon skels or zombies 2, life leach some rank, maybe 2, and a protection spell, I think elemental. The spells I have learned are heal self 3, teleport to town, fireball 3 and increase elemental damage 2. Is summoning a lot of guys a good thing to give to my pet so he has help tanking? Is life drain worth it? Should I buy a frost spell from the vender to replace my fireball? Which haste? The one that makes you move faster or the dervish? I really appreciate the advice, its not that I want to reduce this game to a min/max spread sheet, its just I have never had one that gave you this odd way of customization and am a little miffed as what to do atm...
