TOS V3.05 PBEM "Cartwheel"

I'm in and I'll be glad to play any side..nice to see things from the other side! But guys...when Eric gets up to Ver 4 or the..this is it version...I'd like first dibs on Japan please!
I posted a couple of map links on the other thread FYI.

I'm ready to go whenever you all are.

Eric..a favor please...is it possible for you to provide us all with an update on the rules/changes/unit abilities/etc. that have been made and are applicable to the version we are starting? Thanks!

My final (Ha) take on SG's...still think they're too powerful especially at the begining of TOS and WWII actual in China. If you must have this...then take away stealth attack against arty, and make China have to build the tech. That would be more realistic. Even though the dissension among the Chinese themselves historically doesn't warrant this type of unit. Now...if the two factions had combined then the unit could have existed. But, it seems I'm the only one that really doesn't like the unit. But if you make the Chinese have to buid it, and make it so it takes alot to acquire (1943?) I'd be more comfortable with it. OK I promise that's the last time I talk about it!

True, but you have to expose Chinese artillery to attack the walls in the first place. You could also raise the bombardment defense of walls to make them more difficult to destroy.

As for the factions, I didn't really get to do all that much in the last game, so I would like to play the US again.

Sully, would you be willing to take on the Dutch / China? (I played China in the last go around with Eric_A, Dazz_G and Loulong).

I'm not crazy about the stealth attack of the guerilla either, but the Firaxis version of the scenario they are virtually useless. Eric_A has at least given them some value in this scenario.

Removing their stealth attack against artillery might be a good compromise.

Mis...I'm easy...I can take China and NL if that works for everyone. I too would like a chance to play each side...but still want dibs on Japan when TOS goes final!!!!

Sully

Thank you Sully, I appreciate your flexibility.

So we are ready to go?

Japan: Eric
US: Misfit
CW: El_Tigre
CH+NL: Sully

Would this sequence cause any delay because of timezones? It's almost the
same as in Cartwheel, only Eric and Misfit swapped places. BTW, Canadians
seem to get up early to play their PBEMs!!

I will start the game later tonight. Here is an updated civilopedia
file (fixed the stuff about which units can see subs, but the artillery entry is
not yet fixed):

Eric, I think Sully deserves to know if you made any changes to the Guerilla
before he plays his turn. I can imagine that he's quite eager to use them. :mischief:

I don't have enough time to play my turn this morning (as it is Turn 1 which requires the most thinking).

I will play tonight and forward on.

Don't we need the v3.06 BIQ file to load the scenario as well?

Sully:
No changes to Guerillas, just fewer of them.

IMPORTANT:
BTW: This is the SHORT game so don't waste time building the heavy
bomber plant.

No you don't need the BIQ file, only the person who launches the game
needs it, but I will be posting it soon over in the C& C forum.

Week 48, 1941

Cities captured:
Hong Kong
Bhuket
Aparri

Pearl Raid:
destroyed 1 Fighter, 2 BB
Lost 1 zero

Repulse @ POW sunk, lost 1 TB

Damaged CW aircraft at Rangoon & Sibu

Lost 1 LT @ Bhuket
Lost 1 para on failed drop

Without seeing the map and the disposition of forces so far...I'd say the Allies took the first shot pretty well. I'd say that for the Japs to sail all the way to Pearl and destroy just the fighter and 2 BB's..they have to be pretty disappointed in the results. That is pretty much what I did in the air and what prompted me to move in with my ships guns. Of course that cost me a BB and more a few turns later. Now...will he linger about out of bomber range and continue the strike next turn? ;)

Sully

Lost DD, but sank Jap sub SW of Hawaii. (Yes!!!)

Bombarded some Jap inf / paratroopers.

Fortified like crazy everywhere else.....

Turn to El_Tigre.

I have the save and will play my turn ASAP, but it is very likely that I can' do
it today. Sorry for the delay, but I will definitely need more time than I have
available for the first turn. :(

Burma:
- I faced a tough decision in Burma: I could defend Rangoon for at least 1
turn against that Japanese Army stack, or I could prohibit the drafting of
dozens NIs by cutting Eric's two rubber tiles in Indochina....
- destroyed the roads on Japan's two rubber resources in Indochina. The two
Artilleries I needed to cut the rubber tile near Hue will be Eric's next
turn, and I will loose the Bomber in Kudat, which bombed the rubber near
Pnom-Penh. Sully, make it worthwhile!
- Rangoon evacuated, roads to Mandalay pillaged

Malay:
- bombarded and killed NI next to Kuala Lumpur, Anzac gained 1h
- pillaged some roads

I've tried sending email to you and get this...

This Message was undeliverable due to the following reason:

The user(s) account is temporarily over quota.

Is there a backup email address to contact you?

Judging from the message my service provider sent me, you are attempting to send me a message that is over 7mb in size. My service provider does not appear to permit that big an email. I'd suggest breaking the email attachments into several messages.

I don't believe that Sympatico (which incidentally Eric_A also uses) permits emails about 5mb.

Sorry, but there is very little I can do from my end on this (I believe).

Sully:
Are you sending those screen shots as JPEGs or BMP files. JPEGs are
much more compact. In most cases we just sent a written summary
in the last game. I will send you my notes from the 3.05, they will make
interesting reading for you.

If you used a common password then there is no need to exchange
screen shots, just send the save gave to all the allies and they can
open it up and have a look.

I had a look at some of the maps you mentioned on the C&C forum, most
of them I already have in the West Point Atlas. The history text makes
fascinating reading, especially the part where the Japanese found they
could just send out Chinese carrying the Japanese flag and the KMT
units would run away!
