TOS V3.05 PBEM "Cartwheel"

Misfit...Damn your subs! You keep this up and IJN is going to can me for sure!

Sully

PS Ok sl far what we learned on land is that Guerilla's are stronger than an Inf Div overall especially its stealth capability. On sea the sub reigns supreme due to their invisibility. Ok with that and its stealth attack. But it seems that american torpedoes are at their 1944 capability in 1941. Just a thought and no I'm not crying over spilt milk or....sunk CVs......whaaaaaaw!

And not to mention that "rats are swarming in the basement"!!!!

aksully:

I spotted your ships with a sub, but the real damage was done with bombers and torpedo bombers. My subs are crap (at least the 2 HP ones I have at the start).

There nothing that says I can't build BETTER subs subs at my ports though (remember that Harbours create Veteran naval units). Those babies have 4 HPs. Against a 2 HP CV, you're most likely dead meat.

Count the tiles between Pearl and where you are...... You moved your force with striking range of starting and built units. You paid the price for bad positioning.

US submarines had defective torpedos at the start of the war, to simulate
this they all start at green or regular status, where the Jap subs are veteran
or elite. CW and Dutch subs, however have veteran status.

China:

-Guerillas killed an artillery in Nanking (still in disorder) and a NI outside the city.
One Guerilla lost. The city was bombarded
-an Artillery took a hp away from your Army next to Taiyuan. The city is
besieged by a 7hp NI Army, 5 NI and a MGB

Netherlands:

-no combat
-I cut the last remaining roads between the Dutch colonies and the Japanese
holdings

VP Points: Allies 3438, Japan 3399! We are leading!! :D

I'm tired and upset. I spent the last hour and a half completing my turn went to save it and the program exited with no save. Have a sick pup withdiarrhea so figured I'd get my turn done. Its now 5 am, the dog is asleep and I didn't get my turn done! Not a happy camper! Anyhow. I'll get some sleep and start over again later. Sorry about the delay. I think I'll reload Civ again. Its been acting quirky since I added a file for playing GOTM's. Maybe that will fix the problems I'm seeing. Probably won't be till early afternoon for the save. Again sorry for the delay.

Ok Guys,

Sent the current save to Misfit. I've completely unloaded and reloaded Civ 3, patches, and scenarios. Hopefully this will make sure my files are stable. I'm still making some silly mistakes as I continue to adjust to the changes to units, new units, and overall capabilities. Made a couple of doozy mistakes but oh well! No doubt you all will seize the moment! Anyhow, here are the results of the first round of 1942;

Some nice sub hunting.

Sub that nailed my transport W of Hilo - sunk.

Sub that nailed the Saratoga S of Hilo - sunk.

Sub protecting a big fat happy transport S of Guam - sunk.

(2) CAs E of Wake are down to 2 hps each. (Didn't even need carriers to hit them either....) Bombers took care of the damage. Lost a sub trying to finish one of the CAs though.

We could ask you the same question. Your subs have done reasonably well too.

Quiet turn, very little activity (not for lack of trying on my part).

Week 4, 1942

NZ Inf. Divisions reach airfield on Guadalcanal, see screen shot.

Recon flight shows VP location on Bougainville not occupied.

NOTE:
I have been seeing some unoccupied VP locations on both sides,
are all you guys aware that these locations must be occupied by a millitary
unit to get the points?

Bombed Rabaul, damaged 2 zero fighters.

BTW: There is NO limit to the number of planes you can base on a city.
Limits only apply to airbases.

I think the sub activity is picking up as sides are finally getting them in potential travel lanes. Reduced movement retrictions are accounting for the longer travel times. I'm guessing (Hoping actually) that there will be a lull for a few turns before the next wave of newly produced subs start showing up!

Eric, I know where every VP place is! Getting there however is another story! It seems to me that the CW forces are prime for plucking up those remote VPs...while your poor brothers in arms are losing limb and life! Yes, NL and China...look around and see the CW troops lounging on the beaches of Australia while bragging on worthless conquests!
Sully

Actually Eric I blame you for not giving the Japs enough transports in the beginning and damn Allied subs all over the place! I've reverted to placing sons of nippon in fishing boats prepared to throw torpedoes at passing enemy ships!

I was just checking because I saw you had a Marine on Bougainville and then
you pulled them out.

El_tigre was asking if he could build a base for the use of CW aircraft,
this is very difficult to do in CIV.

If you build a base on Dutch or neutral territory, CW forces will not be able
to occupy it, this is considered a hostile act and due to the locked
alliance you will just get a "no agression against allies" message and your
troops will refuse to move.

You could build it on Japanese territory, then leave it unnoccupied for
the Commonwealth to move in, but since the Japanese get to move
first this could be risky!

Yes, NL and China...look around and see the CW troops lounging on the
beaches of Australia while bragging on worthless conquests!

China can now brag about its own first conquest...

China:
-a Guerilla captured Hsinking in Mandchuria (undefended)
-killed a MGB, a NI and the NI Army in that fortress near Sian, no losses
-destroyed the Light Tank north of Hankow
-Guerillas pillaged the road Peking-Kaifeng and killed two workers

NL:
-no combat

Victory Points: Allies 6513, Japan 6067

What about all the CW forces that died in Singapore?

Nobody has enough transports at the beginning of the scenario, except
the Chinese who don't need any.

I don't believe it: Alpha Centauri allowed your ally to move his troops into your
cities. What a step backwards!
