TOS - Yamato

The Aussies keep up the attack!

In the north, Daly Waters and Broome are recaptured, though with high casulties for the Aussies. 3 tanks and a guerilla were lost trying to dislodge the elite IJ Tank unit before finally destroying it.

Down south, a well planned assult by guerillas destroys one of the Japanese armies stationed in Farnia! Reports coming back suggest only a single guerilla unit was lost, with another being redlined, but surviving the fight.

Australia continues to hang in the balance, with the next couple of weeks being crucial to the efforts of both sides...

Edit: Also, Port Moresby was handed to the Americans, allowing the over-stretched Aussies to focus on defending their homes.

Before I start with my report, I would like to ask whether there are troops in Port Moresby? If you traded Port Moresby back to the Americans, the units inside will be automatically airlifted back to Brisbane (your capital). I don't think that's logistically feasible (or fair to me). If you want to transport troops back to the mainland, use the old-fashioned transport method. Or if you want to just give the Americans Port Moresby as a base, then you must move your troops outside of the city.

Botman captured Darwin, not Broome.

Cut roads near Daly waters with air
Sunk 1 US sub near Darwin with air
Killed 1 LT near Alice Springs with LT
Killed 1 guerilla near Alice Springs with NI
Killed 1 marine near Farina with NI
Killed 1 guerilla near Farina with NI

TG, Not sure if a traded city units are indeed transported back to their capital? Is that true?

Regardless, when the transfer was made, all CW troops WERE outside city limits. As to their disposition and location....that's for you to worry about.

As an aside, do you have a reference in CIV 3 rules that talks about units being airlifted back to their home capital after a city is traded? My concern for Chris was that units remaining in the city when traded would convert to American which is not what we wanted. So that's why Chris moved his units out of the city.

I guess you can always run a test... as far I know know, units in traded cities do not change nationality. They simply 'disappear' and return back to their capital just like traded workers. But you can trade away if Botman's units are outside the city before the trade.

Its a good point and I will try it after the game. As I posted the changeover did not involve any CW troops being in the city at time of possession.

Apologize for the delay getting the turn off...have visitors through Thursday. So I'm trying to keep our game moving as quick as I can.

CINCPACFLEET Pearl Harbor, HI; Gen. McArthur's USAAF bombers wreck havoc on Japanese forces in and around the captured city of Farina in Australia's interior. The Army south of Alice Springs was bombed to 4HPs. Even the presence of General Yashiti could not prevent the devasting blows the Army endured.

Meanwhile, Two new NI Divisions entering the fray near Farina were mauled by USAAF bombers and fighters and both were redlined.

There were losses however. A US DD was sunk south of Truk by a Jap I-Boat. A bomber was also shot down over Truk's harbor by Zekes.

Oops, Yes, I captured Darwin, not Broome. Hope I didn't give you a scare. ;)

And yeah, as aksully mentioned, Port Moresby was empty when I traded it.

Now, onto the turn report (I didn't hold the turn up for once!):

- CW Guerillas pursue the retreating Japanese. Both red-lined NI west of Farnia were killed.

- My mouse button is nearly broken, and I accidently sent a guerilla to dance around the elite NI outside Darwin. Oh well.

NEW IJN SHIP TECH TEST SUCCESS
After months of hard development by the R&D divisions of the IJN, the IJN is proud to present the Naga class PT boats. The first PT boats were put to the test under real conditions near Rabaul where the US fleet is suspected to be hiding. Using it's nimble profile and speedy engine, the first production PT boat raced off to harass the US fleet. The results were stunning. Dodging fire from US BBs CAs and DDs, the Naga slipped past the defenders and successfully torpedoed a transport convoy, while escaping successfully. IJN shipyards has begun to receive these new blueprints as they prove to be cost-effective to produce.

In hindsight, the city trading has really turned the tides of this war...

DALY WATERS HAMMERED
IJAF in response to the fierce attack the IJA sustained last week has unleashed the greatest fury to date. Many sections of road around Australia were destroyed particularly near Brisbane by planes. In addition, caught in the fray, the fighter-bomber squadron based in Daly Waters was ground to dust by the relentless bombardment. Nearby guerilla units were redlined. Unable to defend their own skies, the Australia's home guard days are numbered.

Other news:
Sank 1 CW atk trans near Port Moresby by planes (I hope that was full when it went down)
Killed 1 guerilla in Eucla with MGB

Hey Guys, Just a quick note to say I'll complete my turn this afternoon and send along to CW then. Meidcal issues with my wife and dad have slowed me down a bit but should be back to normal for me to resume play. Had several games backed up but I wanted to save the best (our game) for last! Thanks for hanging in there!

ALICE SPRINGS LIBERATED
Many cheers goes out the the boys in the IJA as they retake Alice Springs from the oppressive Aussies late last week. Newly minted troops from Wei China arrived at Darwin a week ago ready for combat. After bombardment from nearby IJAF planes, the defenders were in disarray as light tanks and infantry storm the town. The melee that ensued resulted in 1 MGB, 2 ANZAC, and 1 guerilla killed with no losses for the IJA. The iron grip of Britian is quickly losing its strength as Japan musters better quality units and logistics.

SUB HUNTING SPREE
IJA intelligence has been tracking the movement of enemy subs lately and finally discovered the precise moment to strike. The results were astounding: 1 sub near Saipan sunk by adv I-boat, 1 sub near Truk sunk by adv I-boat, and 1 sub near Cape York was sunk by naval aircraft. Losing three subs in such as short span of time can only spell trouble for the USN.

Other news:
2 F4Fs destroyed on ground at Farina.
1 guerilla killed near Eucla.
