YAMAMOTO GETS DOWN TO BUSINESS
This week, IJN CIC Admiral Yamamoto has decided to take a first-hand look at the hard work the IJN has done in the Oceania campaign. Attached to the Carnavon light tank assault division, Yamamoto was mighty impressed by the prowess the division's men exhibited when they terminated the entrenched MGB near Carnavon. As a result, Yamamoto has decided to stay attached to this division and command it personally. Some critics doubt Yamamoto's army commanding ability but one thing is certain, another army beckons at Australia's doorsteps.

Other news:
Bombed more roads near Brisbane with IJN ships
Bombed nearby US ships with artillery at Wake
1 US DD near Kwalajien sunk by TPD

About the city trading:
Thanks for telling me Botman. I guess Sully wants to get into the fight sooner. The Pacific theatre is like two guys with giant shields but neither has a spear to attack. But really, city trading detracts from the flavour of this scenario. Lend-lease is usually simulated by sending money or technologies. Nonetheless, this action is clearly within the rules. If you guys want to play it this way, guess I'll just have to adapt my strategy.

Nothing to report.

I can appreciate why you wouldn't be in favour of city swapping as it can only make things a bit harder for you TechGuy. But given that without something like this the remainder of the game really would just be you mopping everyone up, at least this kinda gives the allies (especially the CW) one last chance.

Actually Botman, there were some things that you could have done to really blunt my attack. I'll share my thoughts with you when this game finishes.

BROOME AND EUCLA FALLS
As the IJA advances through middle Australia, many are left wondering if this Japanese juggernaut will every stop? First, this week, the combined elements of the IJA and the IJN successfully executed the assualt on the city of Broome. Marine units stormed Broome's docks and killed one veteran Anzac division. Light tanks from the IJA followed that assualt and destroyed the remaining conscript Anzac. No losses were reported for this action. At the same time, the IJA captured Eucla after weeks of fighting. From the midst of blitzkrieg campaign, Commander Tsuji from the 3rd Kobe division was promoted to General due to his brilliance in coordinating the attack. Another military great leader joins the ranks of the IJA.

WOODEN SHIPS PROVE UNRELIABLE
Despite Dutch marauders setting torch to the fine city of Davao last week, IJN Nipponese divisions were not fazed by the cruelty exhibited by the heartless Dutch invaders. In response, NI divisions banzai-charged the infantry division on Davao island and terminated its existance with prejudice. IJN reports the unfortunate loss of one NI division. The Dutch wooden ship that tried to evacuate the invading guerillas was sunk by IJN airpower. Also, another Dutch wooden ship near Dongalla was sunk by naval aircraft. The Dutch are getting more desparate as GEACPS close in for the kill.

KOEPANG UNDER SIEGE
It has only been less than a year since the start of hostilities between Japan and the Western imperialists. This week saw the beginning of the end for the Dutch colonists residing at Koepang. Guerilla units that were stationed at Koepang are now stranded on the island of Sulawesi as they leave their capital ripe for capture. IJN SNLF Marine divisions, assisted by IJN heavy guns, assualted the colonial capital late last week. Two infantry divisions were wiped out as additional IJN ground elements land nearby. Only one flak and one infantry division stands between the IJN and the Dutch capital offices.

Other news:
SS Tigerclaw sunk by TPDs
Road near Peterborough destroyed by planes

CINCPACFLT HQ, PEARL HARBOR HAWAII; The Allies Strike Back! The IJA and IJN forces were handed several setbacks in the last two weeks. First Kwajalein Atoll was captured by the 2nd Marine Division and the 38th Infantry Division. The Japanese losses included a MGB, Flak unit, and 2 Zeke Fighter Squadrons.

Next, near Brisbane, the IJN CA Kumano was sunk by USAAF aircraft and leaving 2 DDs redlined.

In the waters near Menado, the SS Skipjack torpedoed and sank a Transport suspected to be carrying troops to attack Dutch forces in Menado. No survivors were recovered so it is unconfirmed if the Transport was fully loaded.

And in the biggest news of the week...PERTH, KUALA LUMPUR, and MANDALAY were recaptured by US OSS Special Syops forces! In this operation the Japanese lost 2 MGBattlions and an Army.

These must be considered serious blows to the Japanese Imperial HQ's Staff. Where next might the US forces strike next?

I'm confused Sully... what is a Syops operation? And what did you use to capture it? Propaganda? That's sorta cheesy the way you did that...

By the way, I think I've rebased my Kwalajien fighters last turn... I don't think you destroyed any on the ground (at least I thought I did)

Yup TechGuy, that's what he means.

I never even thought of flipping a city (that said, I didn't think of radars either). In the game context, I guess it's like funding the underground to launch an uprising and overthrow the defenders. Not too sure I can believe the Jap troops would defect though...

I can see the cheap side to it. ;) I dunno, it seems to me if you are allowed to flip cities with cash, you should also be allowed to raze cities you capture as well (to stop them being flipped).

Do we have a consensus on if this will be allowed in future? I thought you had been funding descent in some of my cities TechGuy, but it might have just been caused by the rather turbulent state of affairs inside Australia.

Yes the Syops refers to the use of Propaganda via the Intel Agency. Let me say that when it works...it looks real impressive. But let me just say...it is not cheap and let me also say that it took several turns to accomplish the "flip".

Now as to cheesy? That kind of implies...cheating? I invested a lot of production to complete the Intel Agency and use all of its functions. Let me repeat...doing these is not cheap! I guess we should have talked before the game about using/not using certain game functions. As to limiting its use in the future would be unfair to ask me to do considering the 12 turns it took a pretty productive city to complete the project. Sorry guys but that's the way I see it. Without compensation to recoup my dollars spent..I can't agree to not use it.Otherwise...why build it?

As to Kwajalein...there were indeed two Zeke squadrons that were destroyed on the ground.

I appreciate the thoughts you guys have expressed and it is something to talk about as a limitation prior to a new game. Also I feel the same way about radar. The Japanese never really deployed radar that the game provides. In fact I always said that Radar is a tech that the Japs should be able to research late in the tech tree.

This action is within the rules. If the scenario allows this action, then it must have been designed with a purpose.

And no Botman, I haven't been spreading dissent in your ranks. It would be too hard to turn your nationals against you especially with your culture ratings.

I don't know what nasties are coming my way... but I'm thinking of how I'm going to draw up my contingencies now.

And by 'cheesy', I mean the way you described it. I was left thinking for awhile when you said 'Syops' (I was like, what's a 'syops'?). For a moment, I thought you landed secret troops onto Asia without my knowledge (and sneaking past my Pacific Rim defense line)
