TotalHalibut does a "WTH Is..." video preview of BNW

Civilization was never a grand strategy series. It's a board game made for the PC. Calling it "grand strategy for dummies" is a bit like calling ping pong "tennis for the uncommitted"; technically he's right but who cares? There's enough interesting detail that makes it an apples-and-oranges affair. /whiny

Very well prepared and written video, though. I might have to check out his other ones.

I don't recommend you buy the expansion yet. The AI is all on soma, the game has a few glitches and balance issues that aren't patched yet, and the new systems are a little awkward and don't fit into the game well.

Pretty much this.

In the video he talks about how the A.I. was passive and never tried to attack him because he was playing on prince difficulty. Well its not actually because he was playing on easy mode, the A.I. seems to do that no matter what difficulty you set it to. Its passive to the point where its boring to play. Sometimes I think im playing SimCity and not Civ5.

So how do we reconcile your statement with the people saying that the whole world is in flames in their games?

We point out that there's not a significant sample size yet, and that it's too early to draw the conclusions some seem to be drawing.

I have not had a singleplayer game yet in BNW where my neighbours haven't attacked me at some point. Again, not sure what people are talking about. These early BNW games I have only been playing on immortal too - so it shouldn't be really different for other difficulty levels. I think its a case of people having too few examples and then letting their mind run with an idea
