TR04 - Losers vs 5CC deity

Dromons have lethal sea bombardment. :) Does that mean we can bombard to sink ships, but can't bombard to sink land units? I've never used dromons before either...

Means we can sink ships by bombarding them, yes :) But we can only redline land units.

Many, many dromons. Spew fire, rule the seas. Put three together and enemy run in fear. Catch them in beams of Big Lightbulb. Lethal naval unit bombard, coastal destruction, wreck economy - no overseas trade.

Anyway, the log.

Big event was meeting the Indians in 1575BC(T57). Noting to trade for though.

Horseback Riding is now known by Hittites and Spain, Maths by India, Iroquois still don't know how to bury their dead. The Spanish and the Hittites have probably met.

Inca built the Pyramids and everybody we know except Hiawatha is building the Oracle.

The ruffians at Adrianole needed nearly 60% entertainment tax until an MP was installed and the Temple built. This affected the research towards Philosophy, now due in 5 turns @-2 in the cash flow but 63 in the Treasury.

Constantinople is building a warrior for MP duties in Adrianople.

There is another Lighthouse enabled crossing to the north.

My personal prefernce right now is Map Making from the Philosophy gambit (if it works), then the Lighthouse in Adrianople. Security and trade before science is my motto. And since we will porbably control contacts between the rivals then we should have a good shot at getting monopoly value for knowledge instead of third or fourth.

Roster check:

Tubby Rower - up
A-K - on deck
eldar
Mach
dman
Minute Man
Bede - just explored

Ok. might be able to get to it tonight.

I noticed that we have 5 curraphs and only one warrior. Do we need to build a couple more warriors for MP duty? or just keep spitting out curraphs? 2 MP per city is the limit.

So get MapMaking instead of lit? Then switch Adrianople to Big three tiered ancient structure rumored to be able to focus light into a laser to sink ships?

After MM go for Lit? or start going for Pubby?

Connie's town is building a warrior for MP duty right now. Only town that really needs it is Adrianople.

After maps I would say make haste toward Republic. Or maybe Literature...

Do literature before republic...
We are scientific and libs are cheap... we can build them all while researching rep.. Extra culture and faster city expansion won't hurt.

I am concerned about republic. We have only one source of luxes.
We won't be able to trade until astronomy or unless we get Gr.L-house and rumors about sea-passage are true.
It will be very hard to have larger cities in republic. Much money will go on lux slider and that will offset republic commercial advantages over monarchy.
It could be one of these rare situations where temples, colliseums and caphedrals will have to be built

True on the luxury thing. And happy-gas buildings will help.

The happy citizen penalty in Deity is a killer. And for whatever it's worth that is more important than the AI starting unit and unit support bonuses, IMNHO.

And here is the picture of the Hellespont:

I agree that we should go for Literature after Map Making. Libraries would be nice to have.

This is looking ahead a bit, but is it worth thinking about going for one of the happiness wonders (Bach's, Sistine's, maybe even Hanging Gardens)? And, more generally, is this the sort of game where it's worth putting more effort into building wonders than we normally would (even though we're not going for 20K anymore)?

I just noticed something in Bede's last picture....There seems to be a barb camp on the volcano 3N of Nicaea. Nicaea has no defenders. How bad is that? or is it something we just need to take care of before getting to MA?

That's pollution - same as the pollution in my terrain set (I really don't like it; I prefer the bright orange stuff, it sticks out a mile on pretty much any tile it's on; this stuff whilst being graphically more "accurate" can be impossible to spot sometimes!)

I'm a few turns into this turnset and Cleo built the Oracle which forced Izzy to start building the GLH. Is this still somthing that we can go after? or should I just go straight to the GL? or should I trade for Math and get Currency.

I'm having all of the cities build temples. I finished the builds squeezed another worker out of Constantanople then started the temple. Is this correct?

how's our bank?

I haven't had a serious look at the save, so this is all speculation brought on by old Chuck Jones cartoons. But, what if we forgo some early libraries to get more boats out (3-4 stacks of dromons). This presumes we get the big light bulb thingy. then we use the boats to deny contacts to the AI's

or has Igor been into the ale again?

59G with -2gpt almost double of the Incans with 33 (the most)

MM, HBR, & numbers are available for trade

@TR, can you post the save?

Where is Izzy building the Lighthouse?

If we missed Map Making as the bonus then take Literature and do the Book bindery thing, I think.

Don't need the temple in Connie is it is on worker duty, remember.

The Save from 1425

She's building it in Madrid (Collosus already)

EDIT::: currently she's the only one with MM

yes master rower, a save, please a save... :bounce: :bounce: igor wants to play with a save. master is sleepy and not paying attention. please a save :bounce:

OT:

This is igor --> :confused:
This is igor on ale --> :bounce:

Peeking now.

@ A-K. by looking at the paths between the AI islands...

Spain knows Hittites for sure (coastal)
Hittites know Iroquois for sure (coastal)
Iroquois may know Indians (2 sea tiles)
Indians know Incans for sure (same landmass)
Egyptians still unmet
Arabians still unmet
