After Nicaea was taken then re-gained, that means that we are going to have to re-build the temple & cathedral. As well as the library & uni.

@Eldar, :::EDIT:::nevermind about the civAssist II bit. I read ainwood's response and apparrently I can load modded games but not normal games. (basically because game settings aren't saved in the normal saved file.)

Actually, we hadn't gotten a temple, cathedral, or university built in Nicaea yet. So I guess we were a little bit lucky there. But we do need to get them built now.

Wow. So Chemistry netted us Navigation, Military Tradition, banking, a worker, & 2278 G!! Holy Cow!!!

I loaded the save into CivAssistII and noticed that the Iroquois have a city to the south, and the Indians have two cities in the north. I guess that's not that bad right now but needs to be fixed before infantry.

I have a few questions:::

  1. What is the pre-build in Adrianople for? the palace only has 15 more turns left before completion.
  2. Should we start building banks?
  3. If we are running @ 100% science, Nicaea needs a library & university. correct?
  4. Why is there an unneccesary entertainer in Nicaea?

@ eldar,---> also, according to CA II, we are going to overrun Physics by 210 beackers in 5 turns. I'd try to reduce the slider every turn to cut that number back a bit.

Actually, it's going to be really hard to keep the AI off our island forever, and the Indians are reasonably good neighbors. But the Iroquois city is going to have to go at some point.

Newton's, I believe.

Probably. Given that we only have 5 cities, we need all the infrastructure we can get.

Definitely. On my turns, Nicaea was very underdeveloped (probably because it had been building Sistine's) - I think it just had a library and a harbor. Then, of course, it was captured, so the library was blown up. So I think it should be building nothing but infra for a while, starting with the library and university.

Why is there an unneccesary entertainer in Nicaea?
Beats me. Ask the Admiral. Or maybe Igor. :)
 
I don't think that well get ToG in time for the the palace pre-build not to run out of time. I'd suggest switching it to Bach's. It will increase the happy gas and if we decide later to go for newton's then great. It'll take an additional 20 turns (total of 35 from now).

Okay, playing now, but where are we going with this? 10 quiet ones? Guess so, the shortest deal we have with anyone is 8 turns!
 
I think that the main goal is either space or diplo. No new wars I don't think.
 
Just realised, we'll lose the Horses at Nicea when the Indian city grows (rank 3 for Nicea, rank 2 for the Indians). We lose our supply first... I guess we won't need to ship to India then.

0 850 Do some MM. Connie now has Magellan's in 14, not 18. 26spt, or even 27 if we wanted… dang would've been a good 20K city! Adrian gets some more shields, Palace (or whatever) in less now. Caeser now makes 15spt after waste, better for Muskets, I feel. Nicea given some growth. Varna also MMd to get 16spt rather than 14.

IT: Physics comes in. From Spain, nets Metal+908g+15pt. From Abu Metal gets Economics. No deals with anyone else. India will give gpt but we want to clear those cities off our continent soon so no per-turn deals thanks. Research set to ToG, AIs tend to go for Magnetism first... don't they?

5 900 ToG in 11 turns @ -128. Switch Adrian to Smith's for Newton pre-build. I suspect it'll become an expensive Bank though, that SGL for the Iros was annoying.

IT: Hittite/Iro peace. Nicea Court->Lib.

6 910 Iros have an island in the southern ocean, I trade WMs with them (and get 19g into the bargain).

7 920 Spain have Mil Trad, and tons of gold.

IT: Iros ask to extend the peace treaty, I accept. Nicea Lib->Uni. Grand River finishes Magellans :(

9 940 Adrian gets a Bank for just 75 shields more than necessary. Connie switched to Smith's. Renewing expired lux deals: Sell Edu to Inca for Incense. Iron to Arabia for Spices. Banking to Hittites for Silks.

IT: Adrian Bank->Knight. Madrid completes Shakespeares :eek: ! Um, can I say, H-E-L-P?!?

10 950 Salt deal with India expires next turn. I suggest declaring on them to clear those two cities? ToG in 5. Fingers crossed. It's getting to the stage now where steal vs. research becomes economical.
 
I haven't looked at the save yet because I'm at work, but how badly do we need to clear away those Indian cities? Once the AI can sail across the seas, keeping them off of our island is going to be almost impossible without constant warfare, and India is probably as good a neighbor as we're likely to have.

Also, if we're considering a diplo win, we're going to need some friends. We've already fought wars with three other civs, so maybe we should be nice to Gandhi.
 
Just a suggestion. Actually he's pretty weak, infra-wise. Only 4 cities in his main core, the rest all over the place.

Spain, though. And Madrid in particular. Scary.
 
Yeah, we're going to have to find a way to do something about Isabella. No idea how we're going to do it, though.
 
Of course, we may not need to do anything specific about her. Stealing techs and timing pre-builds will do for a technological win, and if we're super-lucky there'll be oil in our nice patch of swamp.
 
Ok I got it. I have to finish Pere01 tonight first. After tonight I can't play until Thursday night, so if I can't get this in then I might ask for a swap with the next player (dman or MMan). We'll find out in a few hours; I'll let y'all know.

Meanwhile, at least I'll take a look at the save tonight. Is the Smith's build in Connie actually targeted for Smith's right now, or is it a prebuild for Newton? I'd think Newton is preferred, right?
 
I think it's a prebuild for Newton's. Smith's isn't nearly as exciting with only five cities.
 
I won't be able to play until thursday night.
I have a test scheduled for thursday and i must not fail :) .
