TR04 - Losers vs 5CC deity

Your wife has the same opinion of Civ as mine does though....
All wives have the same opinion. Why do you think Bede did away with his first three? ;) BTW, I'm weaning myself back to 2 or 3 for the same reasons as Tubby.

I see myself playing just SGs for a bit... after I finish my HoF QC games. At least the Huge map is almost done!!

Since I'm just lurking now, I can't crack the whip too hard, but eldar are you there?

Roster::
eldar <---Up
Mach <--On deck
dman
Minute Man
Bede
Tubby Rower <-- Chronic Slacker and missing civ already
A-K <-- just played

Eldar? It's been over 48 since your implied got it... Should I grab it? I can play tonight...

Save TR04! For as little as 23 cents a day, you can feed a loser...

:rotfl: That's great!!!

I'd say if eldar hasn't played by the time that you are ready, play. He's had more than enought ime to either play or post a skip, wait, etc...

I would have been cracking a whip a little harder if I'd been still able to play. eldar04 is suffering from lack of enthusiasm too.

I'm really not doing too well with SGs these days. I'm guilty of neglecting my own game too  And yet I can reel off COTM12 in a single 13-hour session....

[Edit] I'll play this evening. It's only 5 cities and 10 turns, then I can start investigating the Large/Emperor starts MapFinder dug up for an HoF attempt.

Right, time to report.

No war with Spain, but we have Chiv+Eng so Trebs,Knights,Pikes can be built quickly by all. Just need boats and RoPs to get them there unhindered.

Early: Sold Thoology to India for hefty gpt. Not to Iros, mistake, Gandhi just sold it to them when he got Invention.

Mid: GLib got us Chivalry and Invention.

Late: Spain land a Settler in the N, not enough boats to blockade. Iros land troops in S by Valladolid however I don't see a Spear and a Warrior denting a Pike.

Bad news: GA-fuelled Iros will complete Sistine 2 turns ahead of us. Spain and India don't appear to be competitive right now. Would dearly love to know when Iro GA is due to end.

Following post: the 3 Sistine rivals.

TR04_Delhi.jpg

Delhi - once they've mined that mountain, may be a close shave.

TR04_Toledo.jpg

Toledo - not a contender, it'll get no more shields unless Madrid relinquishes that hill.

TR04_OilSprings.jpg

Oil Springs - take away the GA and it hasn't a prayer, but keep it up and the Iros will be seeing the white smoke and not us.

The Iroquois don't have any other wonders IIRC. Therefore their GA started with the Mounted Warrior against Spain. We could assume that their GA will end soon since we haven't been at war with Spain for 18 turns. During my turns, the Iroquois were only dropping off warriors though. So it could have been a little later.

Looking at the Oil Springs screenshot, there are 2 settlers in there. Why would the AI, just stockpile settlers like that?

Because they do... I'm guessing they just peeled one off, what's worse is the place is growing so will be able to touch 30spt at size 12 - which it'll get to in just 6 turns' time.

Ok, I got it and I've looked at the save. I'm gonna need some guidance here, I'm not thrilled with our position. We don't have many workers, yet we're working unimproved tiles. I can squeeze another out of Const before the next knight. Most of our dromons are blocking the unclaimed iron from settlers, so we're ill-positioned for a war with Spain.

But still we could try it: I could bomb their iron with our dromon squad up there, take out their presence on our island, and possibly try to muster a knight force to send up and burn cities.

The only thing I see we can do about Sistine is wait and see what happens...

How about a little rumble with the Jets(Iroquois)? Maybe with Isabella playing the part of Maria?
Got no deals running with Hiawatha right now.

Lots of those shields are accessible from the sea.

(Goes looking for the score of West Side Story)

I like the idea of going after Hiawatha. Just keep that Dromon where it is (west of Valladolid), blocking his Galley access

@Mach, could you post a screenie from the homeland after your turns?

Is there any way to tell when a civ started its GA, other than witness the UU victory or know when it's two traits were satisfied by wonders?

I second that question, if anyone knows.

Sure, I can war with the Iroquois. Bomb Salamanca, win Sistine. I'll leave that blocking dromon in place.

What shall I do about research? We're doing min on PP right now, I'd prefer to turn that up to max.

Play tonight.

Run CrPViewer on the file.

They have only three turns to run...

Oh I hadn't thought of switching the civs. I think that it's disallowed on xOTM's so I igured that it was bad form here too so I hadn't done it. That's nice to know that we have a chance at Sistines...

as far as research goes Mach, I think that the min run was started was to pull in as much money while the Big Book Bindary of Brother Bede was still in effect.

Actually, leave 2 blocking dromons:
With just 1, if the Iros attack it and win, their galley will finish up on a coast tile - so they may attack it.
With 2 dromons there, the first attacking galley would still finish up on a sea tile even if it won - so they won't attack.

Ok got it, post two dromons, and keep the min run going. I'll see if I can get a scientist somewhere, so we can drop that sci rate to 0%.

And as requested I'll try to post screenies for everyone.
