if I put 30 turns of luxury resurce on the table and ask them what they offer for it, they answer "no way"

however, if I then choose from their table say some 50 gold and some 7 GPT for my luxury, they'll accept that.

so why are they not offering it themselves when I ask what they want for it? it's confusing, I thought they didn't want my lux but it turns out they are just too lazy to think about how much it's worth.

also is the warning for "your alliance ran its course and will need to be renewed" gone? or maybe I just missed it.

Agree. I only recently found out that I could actually make GPT deals this way. I had read about it on the forums but had no idea why I could never make it work.

However I fear there's nothing Thal can do here...

This mostly seems to happen when the AI cannot afford to offer what it thinks of as a fair deal. You can manually add a deal that the AI thinks is in its favor, and it will accept that, but it will refuse to proffer such a deal.

For example, if the AI thinks that luxury X is worth 240 gold, but it only has 200 gold, and no per turn gold, then asking "what would you give me for X" would result in "nothing", as in "I cannot afford that", but manually proposing 200 would result in acceptance.

I don't think it is a bug, it is just a particular design choice.

civup 2046 + gem 1079 :

trading luxuries directly from the diplo screen doesn't seem to work properly. the background is grey, there's a sound like campfire and "no scene loaded for this leader" text in the upper left corner, also there's no luxury in the offer box.

This also seems to be the case for Gold per turn. If the Ai has 200 GPT and no actual gold in reserve they won't offer up anything either even though it's just as good a deal as buying outright.

Choosing 50 GPT will usually result in them turning the gold amount down to something more reasonable.
