Trait adjustment

:beer:

Well, I like the Germans with SCI/MIL, because it's just a game, and no other Civ has that combo ;) . And that is what I really want from the new Civs: Highest possible variety of trait combos, not duplications like in ptw.

So I don't have a problem with a Germans as SCI/MIL in Civ3, 'cause someone has to have that combo (same as the uninspired COM/IND for France), I just love to argue if someone tells me, we are militaristic.

Anyway, in my list, I made the Germans Industrious/Scientific, a much better fit IMO.

Good point. I've been thinking about that for my personal modding to. Problem is, the Germans have historicaly been known as competent soldiers... Maybe give them 3 traits? :)

Another prob is that Militaristic gives cheep harbors in vanilla Civ and PTW, meaning cheap harbours & veteran ships for germans ang Romans, but not for English, Greeks and Cartaginians. :(
That should be solved with C3C though! :D

Would be cool if you could choose random Civtraits when starting a game, just like you can choose to randomise other things...

COM is quite ok for the French i think, they usualy have a strong economy. Perhaps agricultural? Gaul/France was the most populus region in Europa during the ancient and medieval period.

Yes, the Germans are one of the civs that could have three traits. But, adding a third is a thing for the mod. In a normal game, you can't give one civ three and another two! :)

The Americans and English have also had consitantly successful militaries, it's just comes down to which traits fit them best and how to spread them so all combos are given.

i had an idea, what i was going to do when c3c comes out is add one more civ trat to every civ int the game for more deversity.

What third trait would you give the Zulus? Or the Celts?

lol, i was thinking of that, im not to shure.. i was thinking the zulu and clets chold be maby cemarcal??

@Vietcong:
I normally really don't care for your spelling, you may have your reasons, but sometimes your points are simply not understandable...what do you mean with 'cemarcal'?

@thestonesfan:
Celts, Seafaring. Irish monks are supposed to have traveled to far away Atlantic islands, some say even America. And Asterix for sure reached the New World.
Zulus, no idea.

The Communist Party United States of America has little time to waste on education.

Thanks for all the comments. Being a refugee from Apolyton (server problems) it is interesting getting all the new perspectives.

As quite a few people have commented on me indicating France as religious, let me explain why I did that. Joan, the leader head, was IIRC known for not taking over the crown when she had the opportunity after driving the English out. She always claimed to have been “sent by god” (or the equivalent) to remove the English heresy. Whenever I see the Joan leader head (prior to her Sinead O’Connor look) that is what I think of – A religious fanatic (of the sort that now a days would be strapping 20 lbs of plastique to her belly and detonating it on a crowded bus). Thus, my association of France with Religious. I would have to agree that whenever I think of France IRL, I actually think of their great architectural and culinary achievements (unfortunately, Artistic is not an option…. yet).

Yepp, some kind of "Artistic" trait would be great. With cheaper theaters, operas and movie theaters (yepp, we need those improvements!)... and Sheakspeers Theatre would be ART COM?

Well, among other things, France supported the Protestants Swedes & German states vs the Catholic Habsburgs in spite of France being Catholic. The "Secular state" is an important ideal in France.
So I think REL as a trait is out, and probably SCI to... but the French sholud have some "cheep culture".
