Transferring Food and Production

Could someone tell me if this is possible to mod or not?

Is it possible to make a mod that allows you to send food from one city to another? How about production?

If it is possible, could I get a simple explanation of how it could be done?

Yes, it is in the total war mod as caravans. You build a caravan and when it goes to the other city your pick what your want to transfer per turn. I was working on isolating it, but have not finished isolating the code.

I can upload the files I was working on. I don't think I am going to work on it anymore for my mod though.

I'm totally interested in the same thing for my mod! But its very important to me that AI understands how to use it too.

Making caravans which are built with food is easy, as is using them like Great Merchants for gold or Great Engineers for hammers. Getting them to create food in cities requires a work-around.

I found this on Apolyton and haven't got it working yet (next task), but it suggests how it could work:

DESCRIPTION: This is a small mod. New unit -- Caravan. Costs 100 hammers to build. You can use it in a foreign city like a great merchant to get 75 gold, or can use it one of your cities to get 75 hammers towards the production of a building/wonder. The Caravan can now also be used to instantly construct a building. It then gives the city 75 food and removes the building.
