Transparency and the Rule of Law...

that information was being requested by a select panel of congress....i.e. politicians of the highest security in the nation. If you cant trust them with such information, then you cant trust anyone.

I know plenty of people I'd trust before Congress critters ;) but you're not only right, the only sunlight we can hope for will come from partisans making political attacks. I just cant trust the parties to police themselves, so they gotta police each other when they aint conspiring to rob us.

It's strange that certain groups are ignoring the fact that this so called "fast & furious" policy was started and originally implemented by the Bush Administration.

Its HIS to invoke. Not anyone elses. How can it be invoked without his 'say so'?

Answer: it cant.
Right, but the bolded quote contains the qualifier "just because" - if there is more input or consideration than Obama merely just saying so, he has not violated his word.

Source?
Because Holder recanted that claim.

The US government has been gun dealer to the world for more than 150 years. Why start discriminating now?

Actually, there are quite a few countries that surpass us in 'gun dealing' by magnitudes.

I wonder just how far the 'blame Bush' excuse is actually going to go?

Obama is inevitably blamed for Bush's blunders. If there is a Democrat president after him, I'm sure he will be as well.

It's funny how often the word "partisan" and the phrase "blame Bush" come into play with threads started by Mobboss.

What's the rush? I saw Clinton, Carter, and even FDR blamed for things that happened in the last year of W's presidency.

Not really, and certainly not to the extent that the 'hopey, changey' crowd does.

Especially when you post in them.

A quick search shows one of our esteemed members, in trying to cover for Bush II by playing the Clinton-did-it-too card, managed to blame Clinton for something done by Bush I. Clinton derangement syndrome was alive and well all throughout W's term and continues to this day.

I dont see why the fact that this program was started under Bush (or not) would be relevant in releasing documentation?

I don't think it's about the program at all, but rather that Justice tried to cover up the program when the poo hit the fan.

And that has relevance to what I said how? :crazyeye:

Or why Bush would have most likely done exactly the same thing given that he used executive privilege 5 times while Obama has only done so once?

Without any actual evidence that the release of this information would not endanger informants and undercover agents still working to stop this endemic problem, I don't see where we have any choice but to grudgingly accept his judgment, just as the clearly partisan Obama-haters told us we must do with Bush under far worse circumstances.
