Beijing hotel workers already 'fed up' with Obama entourage in 3400-square-foot, $8,350-per-night suite inconveniencing 'pretty much everyone'.

Michelle Obama and three of her family members are staying in a $8,350-per-night Beijing presidential suite, but despite a 24-hour butler and other perks that come with the lodging, her entourage has inconvenienced 'pretty much everyone' and made the hotel staff 'fed up,' a well-placed hotel staffer has told MailOnline.

The sumptuous pad at the Westin Beijing Chaoyang hotel – its website calls the room 'an oasis of comfort – is a 3,400-square-foot masterpiece including a private steam room, 'corner sofas with silk pillows,' and in-room dining for six.

But the Obamas' stay has already affected staff and guests at the hotel, with the Westin front-desk veteran alleging that Mrs. Obama's mother Marian Robinson has been 'barking at the staff since she arrived.'

Even if one would accept that MO herself has a reason to be there (?), why exactly is there also her mother around? I guess four people render 9K dollars/night as being worth it :yup:

Most people would live on 9K dollars for a pretty long time. The out-of-touch mentality of those oligarchs is pretty disgusting by now, in my view. You can discuss this new important US-China diplomacy going on, or just polarise more :dunno:

No ****. Obama used to be a social worker. I wonder what some of the folks he visited would think of a day's stay in cash? Might get them out of a hole. Interesting how fast some folks assume the mantle of "oligarch", and forget where they came from.

I'm taking right rear as the hottest.

This just in, the Daily Mail finds fault with liberal-party president's wife!

In the last six years Michelle Obama has never managed to come off well in the public eye. She just nails that angry and entitled vibe.

No one claims the Daily mail is not a horrible tabloid, but it is still obviously true that MO's hotel room in Beijing (where she is a diplomat now, cause she can) costs 9K each day to live in with her mother and two children.
And that seems to be quite a bit on the nasty side of nepotism and a load of other horrific issues..

Y'know, you might not be wrong, but a conservative white man declaring that a successful black woman is "angry and entitled" reads as a bit... Uncomfortable? I'd try and find a more round about of making the same point.

The Daily Mail is ardently monarchist, so they're not really in a position to pursue this line of argument.

Traitorfish is ok with people spending $9K tax payers money each night, as long as they are "oppressed minorities" living in the white house. :)

You know that most people here would have no issue with the thousands of dollars the stay in that hotel will cost, being instead given to poor people who could use it, right?

I can certainly understand the outrage among the usual suspects like the Daily Fail, Washington Times, American Thinker, and the Examiner. After all, most blacks know their proper place without having to be constantly reminded. They still even insist on using the presidential 747, instead of flying coach like everybody else.

“I’m guessing that people would be upset by (the room bill), but we really don’t know what security is needed and what kind of facility she needs. There are certain protocols,” said pollster David Paleologos, director of the Suffolk University Political Research Center.

Others say the Obamas stay where security tells them to.

“She doesn’t choose where she stays or how much security goes with her. These are just things that are done as a matter of course for any first lady,” said Matt Bennett, a Democratic operative who worked as a trip director during the Bill Clinton years. “She has absolutely nothing to do with it. The embassy works with the foreign ministry to figure out the best place for her to stay.”

When I saw last post: TF on the list of threads I guessed your post content correctly.
It was going to be some insinuation of racism or sexism. I don't sugarcoat my words if you're black. I shoot from the hip. Shoot first, ask questions later.

After all, just think of how many successful whites are also frequently described as being "angry and entitled". I bet they even insist on using the good White House silver, instead of far more economical plastic knives and forks which can be washed and reused numerous times.

I also love how $8350 is rounded up to $9K. Compared to all the other costs of such a trip, even that amount is a drop in the bucket.

Perhaps the Beijing Westin should change the name from the presidential duite to the filthy rich capitalist pig suite. That way other presidential entourages won't expect to stay there as part of their "entitlement".

Yeah, I'm not losing much sleep over this. Presidents get perks, and that kinda trickles down to the First Lady. Deal with it.

No insinuation. Merely an observation. No need to be defensive. Or to mix metaphors.

Hm, so how exactly is "wife of the current US president" a good enough reason for anyone to be sent on tax payers money to China as a diplomat?

Does MO have better chances of helping US-China diplomacy?

And do 9 thousand dollars per night sound logical as a reward for her skills as a diplomat?

-btw, don't fool yourselves, no one cares if she is black or white, or virtually white like her husbant president Obama is. It is quite insulting to the millions of the poor/out of job citizens of the US that this opulence is shown for pretty much no reason at all :yup: ;)

Edit: And, why is her mother on this luxury trip as well? :hmm:

If having a few lux amenities means that the Obamas can be a bit more positive and on their game with the Chinese, then it's an extremely wise investment.

We was a well rested happy president, not a crabby one.

The article states it's Michelle, her two children and her mother.

B. Obama isn't around.

I'm thinking the cost of providing them with security probably clears the cost of this hotel pretty easily. In fact, depending on how the space is allocated and where it is, 9,000 a night might even save on security costs if it's in a fairly controlled space. Or do you not think the President's family are a pretty legit national security concern? I wouldn't want the man with all our big scary buttons to have his wife and children kidnapped and abused/murdered, for one.

Having your wife and mother in law not crawling up your patoot is a valid concern on somebody being happy. Happy wife, happy life, all that.

First, again, it was supposedly $8350 even though we have no idea how much they actually charged the US government. If people insist on rounding it, at least do it in the proper direction.

Second, you are quite right that the security costs would likely be substantially less than staying in the Chinese equivalent of a Days Inn. As the article I posted made quite clear, the Obamas literally have no say whatsoever where they will be staying when they leave the White House to represent the country.

Third, this is literally a drop in the bucket. Not only did Air Force One cost $390M, it takes $180K per hour to operate it.

In America the president's wife is often given stuff to do so that she doesn't feel useless. They'll send her to give speeches, to shake people's hands, and even to start foundations.

It's an American thing. Let them do it.
