After a war with Hatty, I took her peace offer, which included a city that looked pretty good - lots of towns and stuff.

After a few turns of peace, I bothered to look at the city. It only had a population of 3, and it had +21(!) unhapiness from "Hell no, we won't go."

I never run Nationalism, but after a few moments I realized that was from drafting. She had friggin destroyed the city with it.

It surprises me, though, that I'd be saddled with that. IIRC, the "cruel oppression" negatives from slavery go away if the city changes hands, but I'm stuck with these negatives from Hatty's drafting.

Too bad... the game should allow you to inspect the cities offered in trade!

That's very impressive, I've never seen AI's adopt Nationhood.

I find AIs will try and offload bad cities on you a lot when making peace terms. It's often more of a curse than a blessing when you accept a city from the AI.

thats freaking awesome! who can say they wouldnt do the same to the AI given the chance?

Wow just wow she drafted 7+ units from that city. What version are you playing , is itbetter AI ?

It's Vanilla with the latest patch. I *tried* to install better AI, but I don't think I did it successfully.

same for me and I'm shocked that the drafting unhappiness is still there after she gives you the city.
I'm pretty sure it would be gone if you had captured the city.

I am also pretty sure that unhappiness from drafting and for that matter whipping is reset if you capture a city. At least I have never seen that as a cause of unhappiness in any of the many hundreds of cities I have captured over my Civ 4 career... and that is the sort of detail I would spot ;)

BetterAI definitely increases the use of nationalism by some AIs...

The problem with draft unhappiness going away is in MP, you could draft several units, trade the city to a friend, and then get it back, unhappiness free.

sounds cool to do in MP. You bargain trading away a city to someone all the while drafting mad from it do you give it away with +40 unhappy or something silly :).
