1826AD (283):
Preflight check. Snooze... Ok, for some reason we are gearing up for war? Or that's what I think I see...
If we go to war without getting Pericles in a PA first, we'll probably never be able to get one. The only two ways to get one are to share a DP for a while, or be in a mutual war for a while. Unless Genghis goes nuts on Pericles, which I doubt he will, then we'll need to use a DP, and as such we should probably not be bulking up on Rifles, etc... when Assembly Line is so close. So with that in mind, I'm actually going to swap out military builds for obsolete units, and get rid of some medieval and classical units (we are paying a ton of cash for unit maintenance, 40 somethingish...). I'll keep a few rifle builds going so we can use them as replacement garrisons.
Hoping that some AI starts a world war to facilitate sharing a war with Pericles.
Ok, checking through the cities...
Berlin is still growing and we don't have any worthwhile tiles left to work so hire an extra scientist. Rifle has hammers into it already, so will let it finish. I delete the crossbow and the archer here and we save 5gpt, ugly inflation ftl!
Hamburg working on a Knight, and that's pretty useless under any circumstance, considering we are getting Cavs soonish anyways. Well at least it will convert the build I think, so stall it and dial up an Intelligence Agency first. Archer here also gets deleted.
Munich working on Wall St, and this place is out of control with too much food, so hire another spec!
Stall Cologne's growth as we are hitting caps and have no more land tiles to work anyways. We just started a rifleman, so I will switch to a Hospital so we have health to absorb mass food from Sushi and build a Drydock later... An archer, axe, and longbow get deleted here.
Frankfurt about to spit out a canno. We are at the health cap here and growing in 4 more turns. Well, ok stalling growth by moving off a farm...
Essen working on rifles right now. Just started one, so remove it and dial up a Hospital. Lose the Longbow and archer here too.
Dortmund about to finish Oxford, yay.
Stuttgart is stagnant and working on a market, that's fine...
Dusseldorf has Sushi and way too much food, so cutting back and hiring specs to slow growth. We lose an axe here...
Bremen also has Sushi going on, so trying to stall it by hiring specs again.
Hanover is working on rifles and is stagnant. Everything looks good here.
Duisburg just started a cannon, so cancel that and dial a Temple as we are at the happy cap.
Leipzig working on National Park. No idea why we did not build other essentials here first like a courthouse and forge, but will let National Park finish first. Eh, WTH... Forge is double speed for us and 6 turns, so will build it first.
Dresden just started and is building a courthouse before a forge. Might as well let it finish...
Bonn swaps the courthouse for a forge first.
Bochum is new and working on a Granary. Letting that finish...
Same deal with Cow Oil...
I note the settler waiting on the sign. I won't settle yet as there is really no point...
Mil Trad now coming in in 2 turns, so everything is good to go... We are back in positive gold territory too...
1828AD (284):
Genghis wants Lit for 35 gold. Lit is useless, but 35 gold to us is ALSO useless. He can take a hike.
Burger King then shows up and wants us to adopt Vassalage. I tell him to sod off. Wins us another diplo hit with that clown.
Cannon done in Frankfurt, dial a Hospital.
Dortmund finished Oxford, only logical to dial for an Observatory.
Dusseldorf finished a Rifle, so dial another, as we might as well...
1830AD (285):
We catch a spy, doubtless from Hannibal, near Cow Oil.
We win 183 gold for our "failed build" of Oxford in Munich. WTH is that an exploit?
Physics is 5 turns and a Free Great Scientist, so going for it.
Pericles has Drama available for trade, so I give him Gunpowder for it, lol. We then sign our defensive pact.
Bremen finished a rifle, start an aqueduct to accomedate the drydock later...
Duisberg done a Tao Temple. Theatres are cheap, so dial one.
1832AD (286):
We get attacked by a barb on Hannibal's continent in the inturn, lolz.
Rifle done in Hanover, dial another.
Duisburg done temple, dial a market.
Bochum finially done it's granary, so getting on a forge.
1834AD (287):
Ramesses apparently had a Golden Age and it ended, so sad...
Rifle done in Berlin, going for an Intelligence Agency.
Dresden done courts, dialing a forge.
1836AD (288):
That fool Khan wants us to stop trading with Pericles. He can go and give us an excuse to wipe him out...
We win another Great Prophet in Munich. That would be exciting but it isn't in any way. I fortify him with the rest of the great people. Someone can burn off a Golden Age at their Leisure...
Bremen's Aqueduct finished, so firing up a Drydock.
1838AD (289):
We get some event with Hannibal giving us money and good rep with him.
The AP vote comes up and I abstain.
Frankfurt is done a Hospital and gets back on Rifles.
Dusseldorf finishes a rifle and takes a break to get a grocer.
Rifle also done in Hanover, so dial up an intelligence agency.
1840AD (290):
Some silly barbs try to attack Cow Oil and die. Sword vs Musket, lol.
We win a Great Scientist in Berlin for Physics. I fortify him there, as we clearly have no idea what we're doing with our GP horde.
Steam is in 4 for a Rush to Assembly Line and our UB.
Frankfurt finished a Rifle, dial an intelligence agency.
Duisburg done a market, also dials an IA.
I'm going to pass it off here in case someone wants to Veto steam power, but Genghis is in WHEOOH mode. Considering that Khan is 1 turn away from researching Civil Service... I think Pericles should be fine, but obviously we may be dragged into a war soonish. BUG is obviously not compatible with this HoF junk mod, so I haven't been arsed to check relations closely except with Pericles. However, I did check this turn and it appears that, other than Genghis, Ramesses, Shaka, and Charlemagne are all in WHEOOH mode. That's fairly interesting, and we may want even more rifles (and cavs) instead of some of the IAs I dialed.
BE CAREFUL if we end up in a war. If we hand over the cities we capture to Pericles, or if he becomes too powerful, he will surpass Ramesses for second place, and we will be unable to make a PA with him (unless they addressed that mechanic at some time).
Uh, also I haven't used the two settlers we had at the other continent, but I've placed the second at a good site.
