I screwed up and had this posted on the main multi-team forum for about 1/2 hour. :wallbash: No excuse really, other than too many browser windows open I guess. :( :( At least I noticed it before all the other teams started posting in the thread, which is a little encouraging that maybe everyone is asleep.

Anyway, now I have to retype it because it's not in the cut & paste buffer. At least we're early in the game so not much to be gleaned from it other than we have a hut.

Warrior W, worker starts on wines. You need to decide if you want a screwup like me to keep playing turns or if someone else gets a chance now. Also where is our settler going?

It is unfortunate that the screenie was posted for all to see. Alas to err is human.

Given that there was an intel leak I believe we should try to make "lemonade" from this lemon.

I suggest the thai menu boy to begin a broader disinformation campaign. Perhaps "adjusted" screenies could be leaked from time to time to throw off the competition.... After a while.... the enemy won't know what to believe and may begin to believe the initial leak to be disinformation as well...

Perhaps we drop a screenie showing iron on the hill next to our capital? They may mistakenly deduce we went for ironworking early and are preparing for a rush.

We can shape our enemies view of our civilization with well timed leaks of misinformation. Just a thought. Do with it what you will.

hmmmm...
I don't think the forum is to be used for this. In fact, the first line of the forum-rules state:
The Forum Rules said:
What can't you post?
You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise violative of any law.
Notice the bolding.

This plan is to post knowingly false material. Don't do it on the CFC-forum. If you find other ways (email, other sites, MSN, etc.): fine.

I mean no disrespect but this interpretation of this forum rule doesn't seem to fit the spirit in which it was surely intended. I took this rule as a means to prevent slander and communications of a malicious intent.

Any misrepresentations of our starting area or what you qualify as "Knowingly false material" by no means harbors malicious intent. Misrepresentations I suggested have no impact outside this democracy game and I believe would only be seen as all in good fun.

For example you yourself have posted "Knowingly false material" in jest on the same sub forum. An example follows...

Remember: volcanoes blow once every 2 turns. At least. Say "Bye bye" to your worker and warrior.
Shame you didn't settle in place; I'd have loved to see the reaction in the other 3 fora when your team-name would have disappeared from the game.

Again, I mean no disrespect and would ask for you to please rethink this interpretation of this rule.

Thank you.

I agree with Rik, unfortunatley. I read over the rules a few times to make sure what I did would NOT cause any problems. I had to make it quite obvious that the screens I posted had nothing to do with the game.

Now, if you want me to make velociraptors or aliens run around the screenie, then expand upon that, I don't think it would be a problem. But I would have to make it quite obvious that it was not a part of the real game.

I am interested, however, on how many people VIEWED the post before it was corrected.

I thought of checking views after I had already wiped the original thread and created this one. At that point there were 5 views.

It may very well be that it wasn't viewed at all. At most one person would have seen it, of the 5 views of least 4 can be accounted for by me, maybe all 5:

create post, edit, what have I done?, edit, screenie still there, edit 2 remove attachment

I think we act like it didn't happen, and as long as the at most 1 person who viewed it didn't have a camera handy then we're ok.

I wouldn't worry too much about it, even in the event someone did see it there isn't any info the other teams could get from it, except that we have some nice terrain around our starting location.

One of the admins shared via PM that two players from another team (the same team) have acknowledged seeing the thread but closed it as soon as they knew what it was. He believes, as do I, that they are being honest and did not take any useful information.

I will ask all of our team members to show the same honesty and integrity if faced with the same circumstance. Any unintentional viewing of information which is intended for another team should be reported to our UN rep, who should share that with the admins. Failure to do so, followed by use of information which appears to be incriminating (even if it is not intended to be espionage) could be dealt with severely.
