Turn Discussion Thread

I agree, fortifying in place seems like the best move for now.

I'll second that.

We discussed this earlier, but should we switch research to Astronomy? We'll need at least one more turn at 0% research (probably two if we are going to be doing whipping). I still haven't heard back from the ETTA.

Edit: I've updated and attached the latest test save to include the CDZ home island based on the maps provided. With the exception of the spoke between CDZ and Merlot, this map should now be fairly complete.

Our Caraval has been built and begun it's journey to prove the world round. Have we a name for our brave boat?

Going with the space probe theme, how about Pioneer or Mariner? I like Mariner.

I logged in to take a look at the save (looks good AlphaShard ), and we got Construction from Amazon. We also have received Literature from somebody.

Also, I changed the tile assignments in Arcturus from pigs + copper to pigs + clam, keeping with HUSch's micro plan. :)

By the look of that ice, my prediction is that the person to claim the circumnavigation bonus on this map is going to be the person who discovers Satellites. If not, then it's going to be CDZ, because they already have 1 more movement on their caravels than we do.

Here's an idea; if Amazon send a caravel the other way, and we trade maps with them, we have a much better chance of beating CDZ, but then we'd have to argue with Amazon over who actually gets the bonus.

One final though: Are we sure the world actually is round in the first place?

Good point about the Viking Navigation bonus. I'd forgotten that. Ah well, no harm in trying. Also, it would be worth it to find out if there is another continent (though I doubt this is the case). I actually have thought for a while that we might be surrounded by ice.

It is impossible to tell from the game settings, if world wrap is on.

True, it is a possibility we'll be beat by CDZ (dang, i would have protested trading maps with them had I remembered their UB) or that it is even impossible to go around the world, but it's still worth a shot.

Personally, I'm hoping for a thick band of desert, so it becomes the first team to get a caravel with a messionary will be the team to get circumnavigation.

Shoot yes I forgot to mention that we got Literature from CDZ. The trade window was open when I logged into the game.

You know I was thnking of Magellan last night as well but I do like the Mariner more though.

I also didn't realize that "We fear for our Safety" was worth 2:mad: instead of 1:mad:, is that due to difficulty level?

It's proportional to the City's size. If the city is size 12, you can even see 4:mad: faces.
Under size 2 you won't see any.

Ah I see, thanks for the Info.

Also when we do take the Carib city we will be renaming it?

I've read the diplo messages and i ask it again: what about the Liberalism race?

Are we sure this ETTT is a benefit for us? We're incredibly advanced thanks to this, but we're competing with them. Sooner than you can think.

If there's the need to play turns, just tell me, i can do it.

Is the ETTA a benefit research-wise? Maybe. We certainly would not tech this fast alone, and we would have trouble keeping up with a Amazon/Quatronia/CDZ tech alliance. Also, we have an alliance with Amazon until 1000 AD.

As, I've argued before, I think it's main advantage is diplomatically. The world has split into two factions, and we are in the stronger one. In my opinion, we should focus on capturing the Mavericks home island and grabbing as much territory as we can. Land will be a deciding factor in the late game, I think.

You are more than welcome to play turns, if you like. What we really need, however, is help with micro. I've been doing a lot of it, and I am not that good, and I am really learning as I go. I would appreciate help in planning out turns. And I would extend this invitation to HUSch, and anyone else who has micro experience, as well.

My question about the ETTA (i don't know the answer)
In every team is a discussion about winning the game, also in every team is a discussion about leaving the ETTA.
So: What is the reason for the other teams to remain in the ETTA, if we know this, we know the time of leaving.

In small steps,
1. what do we win with Amazon in the dealing about territory, what is their win?
2. what do we win or who wins with destroyingconquest of the enemies, a sequel of our (ETTA) research.

As i already said, fighting warrior vs warrior or Mech Infantry vs Mech Infantry it's exactly the same.
At this point, we're tied with Amazon and i'm OK with it. The last war will be bloody and fight with high-level units, with the advantage for them to be Charismatic. We're giving away our advantage in being financial. I'm even thinking that Tokugawa could have been better than Orange, see how the game is goin'.

But what about CDZ and Quatronia? At this point in the game, if we split the ETTA, they can probably form a 3rd faction. But since we're in some sort of advantage for land and teching ability, i think it's better to maximize this advantage and do it ASAP.

I suggest to weigh a proposal in this direction for Amazon. Surely they are discussig this aspect of the game.
Surely we lack this discussion, duped by all those nice, shining techs.

I'll try to be more active in the Micro Plan thread. I'm usually pretty strong in MM. Once i have clear the target, of course.

We do have a Non agression pact with Amazon until 1000ad, we have no such treaty with CDZ and Quatrona. The ETTA is I feel an attempt NOT to get dogpiled. The Mavericks ie Obsolete had already asked us why we didn't dogpile on Merlot.

And we can't answer it's because we have barely the units to garrison our cities, right?

I'm perfectly aware of all our diplo situation. It's why i'm asking to weigh our options and to start discussing those options with Amazon.

Let's do it now, before it's too late.

BTW, where is LordParkin? aside some row in the intra-game thread i never see nothing from him.
Am i inattentive?
Isn't he the Captain? Or he retired?

He is missing and I don't know why, I IM'ed him but never got an answer. He isn't so much Captain as person that got group started.

I think you do have a point that we should perhaps discuss with Amazon when we want to stop feeding techs to CDZ and Quatrona. Though I think part of the answer will be getting rid of Merlot and Mavericks and your right we don't have enough Military.
