Turnplay Log

From ellestar in the ISDG: "Delete Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Assets\CvGameCoreDLL.dll and re-apply 1.74 Civ patch (say yes when it will ask if you want to install it despite that you already have it)."

Haven't tried this save as I'm away from my CIV computer for the weekend, but it worked quite well for the ISDG after BTS 3.13 came out.

I was able to load it. You need to follow my directions above to get it to load.

The location is Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Assets\

Delete the file labeled "CvGameCoreDLL.dll"

Next go to My Documents\My Game\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Patch

Doubleclick on Patch_174 (say yes when it will ask if you want to install it despite that you already have it).

Disband Stevie Ray. He lived a good life but only sucks up gold now.

We have 5/6 unis for Oxford, dial up a uni in Zapotec. Hire some scientists all over. It would be nice to have constitution, can we get that from Aloha in a peace deal?

Hamburger-> Settler.

Steam Power in 7 turns at -66 gpt with 670 in the bank.

Unload cavs and disband galleon in Aloha territory. It will take 2 turns for our galleon to get into position to rescue them and dont know if they will survive. We only have one frigate in the area to cover.

With all these soldiers, are we sure we cant make a landing on Aloha? Losses would be horrific but it seems we would have enough to take their capital and then some if we just had the boats? Our power graph is twice theirs almost and we are second in soldiers.

Eh I thought I took a picture of our whole empire but you just get the Aloha situation with the disembarked cavs.

I really dont feel like I know what we are trying to do. Any suggestions? Are we working toward nuking epsilon or nuking aloha and the others? Maybe we could try to super settle all available land and win a sneaky domination? We would need to go through Aloha and Innovia (w/ nukes?) first and slap down 40 cities before Eps gets to the SS. Maybe we could talk Eps into giving us their extraneous troops but we are already way above unit support so unless they have better troops it wouldnt matter much.

Anyways, we lose all 3 cavs to amphibious attack to cossacks. They had 91% odds, I thought it would be better than that?

Steam Power is in 5 turns, now 4 at -97 gpt.

What do we do with all these galleons with troops on em at chappaquiddick? Invade Aloha or make peace? I am uncomfortable with them sitting out in the open like this, but dont know what to do with them otherwise.

Save is in. No suggestions? Should we just unload all our troops on Aloha and go from there? We will either get them all killed or make some headway, its hard to tell.

I'm sorry to not have a lot of suggestions C. My feeling is our only chance of winning is making peace with Aloha and backstabbing Epsilon. I'm not particularly comfortable with the prospect but I haven't been much help in this game anyhow.

Well Loco is down to 2 or 3 cities. Epsilon has razed most of their population though. So I guess they will resettle that at some point.

The argument for landing on Aloha is really in concert with trying to get some kind of domination. We have twice their power, and these units are sucking gold up like crazy (-80 gpt or so). We will never compete with Epsilon technologically. So if we get all the troops killed, it will at least free up some coinage, though we may be counterattacked. But if the game ends like that, who cares anyway? And I think we can make some headway if our initial landing works.

OK so where should we land? I think we've seen what a backdoor attack can do.

How about one of the hills to the SW of their capital for a landing? And speaking of back doors, I had a couple of Galleons loaded with cavs ready for a back door assault over by the isthmus. It would keep them from sending all of their Cossacks to defend their capital. But just remember, they like to post sentry's ....

Having said that, my guess is we'll just get all the units killed. Epsilon did offer some assistance at one point. Do we want to discuss things with them before landing troops?

Thats the one that comes to my mind, the hills by the capital I mean. However, we must somehow navigate their bay is the only catch.

Redcoats can get the double hill promotion right? Ive never played with them . Most are 6/2 experience so can go double hill as much as we think we need to fight off the first attack.

IIRC there was a southern hill 2 or 3 tiles outside of their capital. It didn't have any roads connecting it (unless they've since built them). It should take them 2 turns to respond, which would allow for a Cannon barrage. And, yes, Redcoats are eligible for guerrilla promotions.

Like I said, I still think we will lose. We know from the main forum that they have 20 Cossacks. Epsilon offered to provide us some assistance. Not sure if the offer is still on the table, but it might behoove us to talk to them ...

You are probably right, but we need to do something. Problem is we dont have enough galleons to land everything in one turn . We do have 16 redcoats to their 20 cossacks. What are the combat odds for redcoats on a hill vs. cossacks, with and without guerrilla?

No real changes. Steam Power in 4. Epsilon has taken another city from Loco.

We could lure them down by putting a city on the plains hill below their capital territory and fight a war of attrition.

14 Redcoats are loaded along with a cannon and they are in position to sail next turn if we want. Most else is just moving workers. So we need to decide something in the next few days. My gut tells me our redcoats will get smoked upon landing since they have to survive 2 turns.

Message from Robi in response to my question of war or peace, apathy is rampant:

Does it really matter? War, Peace, something in between. Not really fussed either way. Slow turn and prolonged stoppages have more or less killed the interest of this game. My personal feeling is why can Epsilon just win the damn game so we can get it over and done with.

Any strategy or plan we had are long forgotten. So if you prefer peace send us your proposal, if you want war send us your redcoats and if you want something in between then well... sit back and don't send anything. Any proposal shall be put before the Alohan people (ie at this point just me) for consideration.

Great....I think we make peace with Robi and start a freakin' war with Epsilon just to kick start the game and give them a Merry Xmas!! It might just balance things out and somesuch...

That would certainly make Innovia happy ...

Before we start a war with Epsilon, though, we should probably come up with a plan to replace all of the resources deals we have with them. I'm not sure how doable that is, considering how reluctant Aloha and Innovia have been in trading with us all game.

First, Innovia sends us 2 luxuries for wine and fish. I take the deal as I dont see any harm in that.

A settler is produced from Balderdash and heads SW to grab some cottages and the cow SW of Balderdash. Alternatively, he could head somewhere else.

We have about 9 towns/near towns by my count, Bureau is worth ~32 commerce for the capital, so by the time we get democracy it may make sense to switch to emancipation and free speech. Not just yet though.

Balderdash (military city)- what to build here? We are way over unit support so I switched it to a library (+5 beakers with 4 scientists, growth in 1). It has a redcoat in the queue with one turn left. We are not in Representation, 1 turn left on anarchy, and probably after steam power so Epsilon gets it quickly.

So peace with Aloha? Should we get someone to open borders with us and switch to Free Market as part of the deal? I will send them a message.

I also added the land we would have to land on if we forgo the Aloha peace. What else would you like screenshots of?
