Turns 1-20

I hope we do get up a rax at the 2nd or 3rd city for some MP's, we can't just expand without them obviously

When do we expect first contact? The plan looks good provided we don't encounter someone right away. We have one warrior until the second city can build us one (which is another reason I like the settler before granary - we get another warrior much earlier).

If we did get early contact it is likely someone would be moving near our city that is unprotected or protected by a single regular warrior and we could lose the city if that civ attacked.

One good thing is that no team starts with Warrior Code so no archers right off the bat. That makes the plan a lot more safe in my mind.

The biggest factor though is the map design which others may have a better idea on what to expect ( How far apart will the capitols be and do we need galleys to reach them?)

If our plan is to be the first to Philosophy we need to also consider commerce. This would be one disadvantage of a smaller capitol size if we had a roaded river tile. My guess though is that this isn't a problem simply because we won't have the worker actions to road the extra tile early enough to gain more gold (we can likely road a tile for the second town instead).

I think the placement of our second town is really where the commerce will come into play and will be a major factor in placement. If we find nearby gold for example...

I'd keep in mind that there was an early war last game and both parts involved lagged a lot in techs and troops when the knights and cavs knocked at the door. I'd watch F3 closely and make sure we never fall weak to someone, granted, but I think a team will think about it twice before attacking.

Here is my second thought "TNT did it wrong. WE would do it right. Don't you worry about it."

:D

I verified that if you set the governor to emphasize food instead of production, the extra citizen on growth gets set to a food tile. Then later you can switch the governor back to emphasize production and forests tend to get picked for growth citizens. Just remember to manually MM after changing the governor settings. :)

Well i haven't posted here yet, like i said MMing isn't my strong point but looking at all the spreadsheets being thrown around it all looks good.

The only not of caution to add is that there will be a lot of barbs lurking around so while our capital is pumping out the settlers we will need a couple of the other cities providing units for defence

So before the next turn comes around, how's this for a todo list?

  • worker to road the BG.

Good caution. I admit, I forgot that we had pushed for raging barbs. Should we MP two warriors per city/settler or is that overkill?

to be honest, I would rather the warriors escort the settlers than MP the cities. Unless they are needed for :) .

we are going to need a ton of workers as well. So let's not go overboard on the warriors and neglect other aspects.

I leave for a few days and look what happens...progress.

Thanks to Tubs and Wotan for the spreadsheets.

Not to add any confusion but out of curiousity, worker tasks finish on the IT (in pbems) and the workers are not able to move the following turn. Was this factored in?

Road BG first for commerce because I doesn't sound like it will make a difference on the 1st warrior.

Does anyone remember when first contact was made in the last game? My recollection and age defy me. I want to say KISS was well into writing when we met MIA.

OMG! That happened about 1 1/2 years ago and anybody is supposed to remember??? I claim the age defense as well.

It was in mine, had really scrutinized Wotan's too much

This is from the Turnplay Log
emphasis added said:
turn 33:
  • worker moves S <- road next turn
  • settler & Igor move S
  • little dingy goes along the shore NW-W
[*]Peapants moves to rivered hill and sees MIA borders
  • Ave. Joe moves West to reveal north-west coast and beavers
  • backed off lux to 20% and upped SCI to 80% (-2gpt with 9 in the kitty) Writing in 16 turns
  • extracted infor out of F11

From the spreadsheet i saw that we would have 6-7 cities. Setting aside the settler farm, surely we can have 2 of the remaining cities for military units while the rest pump out workers. I would hate for us to lose ground because we couldn't stop a barb attack

Doughnut met MIA on turn 27.
First contact with TNT was turn 36 and war was declared on turn 37.

And from reading MIA's forum MIA and KISS met 2 or 3 turn after Doughnuts met MIA. However i don't expect any wars since provo isn't around

Provo was such a war catalyst, he will be missed :'(

save is in and I'll set the worker to road and move it along

worker started to road

this is interesting that we are not in first with family size. Also we are not in first in mfg goods. That most likely means that someone got a food bonus off the start and someone is also working a forest
