Turns 21-40

Now that everyone has had their jabs at Tubby. Can we get back to teasing someone else. It's hard to insult myself.... :(

edit: typed sarcasm is quite difficult for me. so if you have any sarcasm, please call me or come by the house and visit so I'll understand and appreciate it :p

take one at your stupidity?

I would blame the teams that need up to 24hrs to press return. Since the level of activity in the game is almost at a standstill we turn on each other.

I am pretty sure this MTDG will be a one off for me, at least if it does not pick up pace soon.

Don't get discouraged Wotan. You're initial reaction is the correct one - blame the other teams. My advise is to take your rage, press it into a cold little ball in the pit of your stomach and let it fester until it explodes. We should at least have knights by then :D

Some candy to look forward to in the map pic.
Granary in three and no barbs can change that now. Warrior will be in Hef's next turn.

You can tease me if you wish, i can take it:D

it's nice to see that we were the first to grow back to 3. We're at least a turn ahead right now. That'll translate to more if we don't get disease like KISS did in MTDG 1. Everyone remember to cook your meat well for a few centuries.

To the masters of MMing, any thoughts on the councils tactics, they are up to size 4 now. Are they just trying to get a 4 turn settler factory from the begining?

That's the likely scenario, Robi, beacuse you don't go straight to size 4 if you aren't building a granary. Oddly enough, they didn't start with pottery.

I would guess 2x Warrior, research pottery and prebuild on Granary until pottery is done.

We don't have info on their startup area so maybe it is a good plan? It all depends on how quick you get a return on your investment into a Settler. We had a great area for an early Settler and will have three locations with generous food surplus soon. So in our case it was a no brainer to go the route we chose.

settler before granary almost always better than granary first. That second city can be producing other stuff (including settlers in some cases). Also there's not enough available time in most cases to get the appropriate tiles improved before needed for the factory.

I feel quite sure that the starts are pretty similar. and if you remember, we can get a pop 3-4 cycle in our 4-turn settler factory up and running so once they grow to 5 they'll be screwing their research

The startng area should not be an issue, we all asked for equal starting areas but with some randomness inbetween so whatever we see the other 4 teams would see a similar layout of resources and terrain types.

To go from a granary first seems odd to me because now they are down a city to everyone, which as tubby said means the rest of us can produce 2 things to their one, and on top of that they arn't going to be that far ahead of us in getting a 4 turn factory going

They are the only one's who can challege us for philo. That makes it seem even more bizarre to me.

Ok reading through the posts i have a question. How does going up to size 5 mess up research?

By not having #2 go up to size 3, and #5 (#2's puppy) grow up as well. Research to republic, in the present conditions, is ultimately dependant on your 5-10 cities empire, not your capital.

Turn played, happened to go to gmail by mistake and found a turn from GONG they must have done what I did some time ago, forgotten to post in the tracker thread.

LF grew to size 2 but have so much corruption it "ate" one of the shields already at 3spt. So only generate 2 spt. Would suggest we first take a Worker so we can speed up getting it connected to the capital so the corruption goes down. We could have a Worker in three turns. I work a plains tile this turn so 18 food will be left to generate. We work FP for the final two turns until the Worker is finished, could actually have done that all turns since both alternatives generate the same amount of shileds and gold. Have included a pic of LF.

There is so much fresh water on this map it will be difficult to find a location that will require an aqueduct. ;)

EDIT: Tubby played 12 turns, I have now played 12. Do you guys feel it is time for a hand over or should I take a few more?

Actually I played one of Tubs' turns (grim as it may have been) so you're ahead in turns.

I like early workers, and either way we're stuck at 2spt so we might as well make the most of it with a crew to mine up around there. 2 tiles to mine and 3-4 to irrigate is a bunch of worker tunrs that the first worker should put into our new shiny prospect 5fpt city.

the marvelous thing is all three locations including the next one will be 5fpt! LF will have irrigated FP and oasis, a mined sugar and one or more irrigated plains depending on what we are to use it for? And workers are seldom in surplus. You can always find fasks for them to do.

Im completly happy with you being at the reigns wotan :)
It seems Wotan brought out the big dogs now. Chamnix, Kuningas, Auto Teller and Killercane.

*smack* I forgot we have the bonus irrigation working for the oasis and can make it a 3-1-1 tile. Good stuff. 3x5fpt.
