Typhoon of Steel - WW2 in the Pacific - Version 4

Sully and I are playing a head-to-head game with your 1.03 MP version of TOS. I discovered that IJN DDs upgrade to fast transports and not ASW DDs. Is that intentional?

TechGuy:
Yes that was one of those "historical" things I put in. The IJN had real
problems when it came to ASW. This means they can't just upgrade DDs
like the allies, they have to build new ships.

Hi, just downloaded this to give it a run and I kept getting a PediaIcons error... i have have checked the pedia.text file and its looks ok, but I'm stumped... I have attached a screen dump

The problem with the carriers hanging around is a flaw in the AI, it just
can't seem to handle a large stack of carriers. If you try bomdarding them
with just cruisers and destroyers (which do not have lethal bombard) it
may send the damaged ships home.

In the multiplayer game the battleships start out one tile south of Pearl so
they can be attacked separately. But the AI will not bomb them outside
the city. So what I did in the allied single player games was remove the
Arizona and Oklahoma from the start forces, they are considered already
"sunk" at the start of the game.

Hi eric_A:

I solved the problem with the Japanese carriers hanging around after the attack on Pearl. There is nothing wrong with the AI.

The Japanese AI is simply being careful.

I noted that the Japanese will not move their carriers from Pearl because they do not know what's in the surrounding water (ie enemy subs).

My solution?

This:

I added about 8 elite Japanese subs surrounding the Japanese BBs and CVs. I also added several elite BBs to the task force itself. The result? The turn after the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor, they moved all of their ships, including their carriers! I did several tests, and it worked every time.

I found the Japanese would move their heavily escorted carriers, while leaving a screening force of one carrier (escorted by several BBs and CAs) and ALL of their subs, to deal with any attempt on my part to intercept them.

I was unable to sink any Japanese carriers. They all moved out of the area.

Hope this helps.

Hi, thanks for the mod. Enjoyed the vanilla Pacific War that came with Conquests but was left with a taste for more... Playing SP Long version Major Allies of yours with Americans solo. Turns are only 46 not 100... (in readme says:
"The long game is 100 turns and covers the entire conflict ...."). Trouble adjusting to not being able to move my fighters to Pearl Harbour unless embarking them in a CV. Also my American workers don't do anything with "automate". Another thing right at the start, after bombarding Honolulu, the Japanese fleet seems to move back westwards, but the next turn they all come back, including all the carriers and I was able to destroy them all with my fleet, surrounding their carriers with no escape.

..otherwise love this new version and will play many times and options, thanks

EDIT: Started SHORT version SP Japan. I'ts only 22 turns, and goes only to 1943 !
