Tyrants of Terra

I think there are like 10-15 who have replied in this thread so far...
You can't play large, even through pitboss?

dang somehow forgot it was PB xD well, actually i can easily play large on PB actually, as turns go so slow... in normal games i prefer crowded Standard maps, or else the turns will go too slow..

Well, I'll just repair my brain a bit and then of course im able!...lol

What do you mean with normal games? Have you ever tried to get 10 people connected to each other through civ? It is a major pain... If you want you can count all the names and make a list for our host as he seems to be somewhat sick and he'll be better able to determine size from that. As nothing else is mentioned i assume temperate? personally i like rocky though. What about sealevel? I would like low but i am fine with anything.

normal games = not-pitboss :p

In pitboss it's more ok to lag a bit... cus of the turn lengths ofcourse.

I use whatever you guys like in settings, sealevel etc.

Oh... And count me in if you need more players :p

Yeah the title says terra even. We were talking about all the other settings that also need to be decided...

I am intrested, if you go huge map. Can the OP edit the 1st post to show all the details, what civs are taken?
Im currently in a 10 hr turn timer game which gives 2 turns a day minimum.
Aloha

doubt 10 hr timer is plausible with this amount of players... I think we are going random so you can't have civ "taken" and even if it weren't random you can play as duplicates...

don't need anything as sophisticated as that.. Just find out what number from the top each player should be beforehand then after seeing what leader each get you say who they should chose...

Thank you for all the suggestions people.

Here are the parameters I have decided upon.

map = Terra (Similiar to our Earth, with players Starting in the Old world. The New World when found will obviously be covered in barbarians :D )

size = Large (Usually this would be a 10 player map I'm thinking 12-15 to encourage some conflict for resources)

Technology = No Brokering (You may only trade technology that you have developed yourself)

No Random events (As the Barbarian uprisings can wipe a player out very early without a chance)

Civilization+ Leader choice = RANDOM (This forces players to play to the strengths of the Civ they are dealt. I was given Mongols in our last game and went on a bit of a nasty romp!)

I have opened this game up to the people from my local gaming community so it will be newbie heavy.

If there is enough interest from them I may even run two games.

I'm putting this off till late Nov to sort this out. I'm also teaching myself how to eliminate the units and civs (and map reveals) off a saved map in worldbuilder.

why would you need to save the map in worldbuilder? please put the settings in the first post(using the edit button) also put in how many are going to play. You realize that the mroe players you pack into the game the less newbie friendly it will be right?(more people eliminated faster).

Also why the need to wait for late November? just get a testserver up and anyone who manage to get in get on to play in the real game. The faster this goes up the more we can play.

There isn't anything stopping you from joining afaik?

What do you mean by password? the game haven't even started yet...

you get my point.. could've been he made the password n stuff already.

@Troymk1: can i join?

Wow you guys! calm down. I'll simply be running this from my home system. So no idea why there aren't more PITBOSS games out there.

Oyzar I've previewd a few dozen terra maps in worlbuilder until I got one that looked about right. That was a month or so ago so I've forgotten what it looks like quite well. Now I just need to get the script to delete all the units etc.

Why not take a generic terra map? they are all pretty much the same... It is the same to me though i don't see why you have to delete any units...
