Thought we should have a thread to talk about the UEFA cup. Most surprising result was Everton loosing 5-1 to Dinamo Bucherest. Another suprise was Leverkusen loosing 1-0 to CSKA Sofia. Got the manager sacked that one. Out of teams in it just now the only one I can see winning it is Shaktar Donetsk, Roma if they don't get to many injuries, Sevilla, Sampdoria and Stuttgart. Feyanoord and Sporting wouldn't be a surprise but I don't think they will do it. The most likely one is Shaktar I think. If it' it not them chances are it'll be a CL team who's knocked out. Schalke or Rangers/Porto or Benfica/Vilareal/Lille or Betis would be contenders for that.

Galatasaray - Tromso 1-1 (agg 1-2)
Malmo - Besiktas 1-4 (agg 2-4)

Tromso produced the biggest upset of the round. They had the first leg advantage and played according to their strenght.

Besiktas won(which amazes me because of the poor form of the team) The worst Besiktas players of the season scored a hat-trick. I do not know if we qualify from the groups. Winning is always good for the morale.

I watched the game between Marseille and Germinal Berschoot. I was amazed how Niang (Marseille) managed to waste three given goals. Probably the worst finishing performance I've seen at this level.

Happy to see a Swedish team qualify (Halmstad vs Sporting).

Nasty, nasty challenge on Arteta, who then had a fit on the field. At a point where the score was 5-2 (on aggregate), 2 or so minutes left to play, the ball in midfield, and absolutely no point in the sort of thuggish challenge which happened (not that there ever would be an excuse, but it seems particularly pointless in these circumstances).

HSV beat Kopenhagen 1:0. The first game in Hamburg ended 1:1. As I already said, the penalties, one of them leading to the goal in Kopenhagen, were dubious, but since two others were not given and the Danish played an awful looking game, the HSV victory was deserved.

I have the same feeling after the embarassing 0-1 loss of Racing Genk to Litex Lovech...
They fought so hard for that ticket and they screw it up against a team that shouldn't even be good enough for our second division

an interesting but doable group for Basel, they should be able to beat Tromsö and Strasbourg..., Belgrad should be within reach too.
