I was at a basketball game tonight and my parents were outside the school waiting to pick me up in the car.
Anyway, we had some thin clouds with a starry night (the clouds were thicker by the moon).

When I got in the car my mom and dad started saying how they saw three lights (at about 9:20pm ET) moving over the school westward (toward the moon).
Two of them were close by each other and looked as if they were racing each other (one moving in front of the other & vice-versa). The third one, they said, was further behind but moving in the same direction with the same speed.
Individually (they said), the lights were clear, round and circular but slightly faded and had a wavy motion to them, just like you would be waving your hand by twisting your wrist.

They watched the lights for about 20 seconds and said they disappeared when they crossed the moon's faded light (as, like I said, the clouds were thicker where the moon was).

What is more is that
A) The lights were moving relatively fast in one direction with a steady pace.
B) The clouds didn't have an affect on the lights until they crossed through/over (?) the thicker clouds by the moon.
C) They were obviously not mere light specs but the lights themselves were visibly circular with a white faded light as I said above.
D) My mom was freaking out and said she got goosebumps...

We talked of what that could have been and both of them said that there's no way what they saw were airplanes. Projectors? Nope. We see projectors now and then here and clearly the lights were not caused by projectors because these lights covered a long distance and never came back as projector lights often do.
Balloons? That's probably the most likely cause we figured but it still wouldn't make sense because they would have to be close by for them to appear as they did and IF they were that close by, there's no way they could have gotten behind the clouds (between the clouds and the moon).

My dad saw them first and went outside to keep watching them. He said there was no sound or anything, and that they appeared to be pretty far away (which would mean they must have been moving really fast)...

On our way home I was looking at the sky and saw multiple airplanes. Both my mom and dad said they were nothing like they saw.

What I gave above is a pretty detailed description of what they both told me.
But I'm pissed I didn't see the dang things because I was still inside the school!

So for sure they were UFOs. That doesn't mean they were aliens.
(UFO = Unidentified Flying Object obviously. We couldn't conclude on what the thing they saw was thus it is a UFO).

Still pretty exciting though.
Questions & comments welcome...

The light you saw in the sky was not a UFO. Swamp gas from a weather balloon was trapped in a thermal pocket and reflected the light from Venus.

Nothing to see here, move along.

Oh, CR...a nice man will be visiting you soon. Do answer the door, m'kay? ;)

Interesting. And of course it was a UFO. I wonder what it was exactly, although it is probably mundane and thus more interesting if you don't know.

True... :)

My dad has the habit of looking at airplanes obsessively no matter when or where so I pretty much trust him when he says they were not planes. PS I forgot to mention that they said the light didn't look like it was being reflected (Turner :p ).

As some ufologist guy said once (I forgot who), "if you see something like this, keep watching it, because it's unlikely you'll see anything like it again."

And I'll keep the doors open and unlocked. The freakier this gets the better. ;)

I saw one about 4 years ago at home. It was 1am or so, I was laying out in the yard observing the stars. Finally decided it was time to go in and sleep, so I sit up, and there are 3 lights in a triangle right over the trees. Much, much to bright to be stars. It was about like an aircraft coming straight at you with a its gear down, perhaps 1/4-1/2 mi away, on final approach. So I look at it for perhaps 10 seconds then stand up... in the process of standing up I turn my head away. Look back, and it's gone.

Make of it what you will. :)

I had a similar event happen to me this summer. We saw a group of three lights, round, in a triangle shape (at first I figured one on each wing and one in front, on a plane), flying through the clear night sky. We were in the car, and the lights were out my window (rear right window), about the right altitude for a small passenger plane. It wasn't so much the lights as the actual way they moved. For about 5 minutes they headed east, the same direction as us, moving farther away. Nothing surprising, obviously a plane would be faster. It was the next 25 mintes that was really weird. The object switched directions, and headed west, towards us for about 2 minutes, then south for about five, then east again. It continued changing directions between east and south, and, because of it's southward direction, we never lost sight of it. First off, a plane should not turn this much, plus, it should have left us in the dust with it's eastward travels. Secondly, this thing reversed directions much quicker than any plane that I have ever seen, one second it would be going east, then all of the sudden south, with hardly any "turning" period it seemed. Not too mention it seemed to vary speed a lot. There would be periods where we could barely see it, and other periods where it seemed relatively close. Now, I must say, I come from a family that views aliens on this planet incredibly unlikely, myself included, but neither my mom, dad, nor sister could come up with any explanation (we all saw it).

Too be honest, there's probably a reasonable, boring explanation (for both my story and yours, Civrules), but sometimes it's fun to think otherwise.

Civrules, out of curiosity (I hope I'm not infringing on your privacy) don't you live in Michigan? If you saw this in Michigan, what area was it? If not, well, so much for a weird coincidence.

A B-2 heading straight towards you with forward lights on, then veering off? Every once in a great while, I see one around here as they fly out of Whiteman AFB which isn't far. They are not very loud at all.

I once saw three light like that, turned out to be seagulls.

my gess is u probly didnt even know what u saw, and so it must be some alien space craft.. :mischief:

aliens havent visited earth, and probly never will. space travel is tooo dificult..
unless say its a civ a millon years old or so

Yup, that's right. I live in south-eastern Michigan.
I've heard of similar occurances in Michigan - probably not this area though.

Only if they've added warp drives the B-2.
