Canadian atheletes are now being sent to New York.

TO: the United States and Brazil.
FROM: Pierre Trudeau, Prime Minister of Canada.
SUBJECT: Congratulations

Canada congratulates your success in hosting the next Olympic games, and hopes that both our nations will have great results in these games, along with the rest of the world.

However, there is now a much more dire matter to speak of, Germany has erupted into Civil War, and while we may have had hostilities with the nation, something must be done.

We have three options..

1. Support the Democracy, and either a) Send troops to assist the Germans, or b) Launch an economic campagin agianst the Communist rebels.

2. Wait for world decision to see what should be done.

3. Remain Neutral and stay out of the conflict.

I leave the decision to you my allies, I will support any measures taken.

To Chancellor von Hotzendorf of the Democratic Germany
Russia will do whatever is necessary to bring these rebels to their knees!
We have ourselves experienced the folly of a so-called "people's democracy", and will not, nay cannot allow such a thing to happen to one of our closest friends. My troops and resources are at your disposal.
Good luck
Nicolay Alexandrovich Romanov

"Oh no, oh no, oh no. This can't be happening! Our new-born alliance is being put to the test far too quickly! But we shall prove ourselves worthy of their friendship..."
Romanov paced the war room fretfully and nervously. He needed to hear a response from von Hotzendorf, needed to hear that he was safe and holding his ground. The message had been sent by the private channel, but even secure channels were not always air-tight. What if the communists overheard the transmissions? What if they stopped them entirely? What if, what if...
Bicolay knew there could be no slip-ups. Having a volatile communist state as their next-door neighbour was just not an option. He had to hope the world would join him in fighting down the menace. The fragile peace of the post-war world hung in the balance yet again...

IRANIAN PROGRESSIVE PARTY LOSES PARLIAMENT

Prime minister Farid al-Qafar was released from the hospital last week into what can only be called the worst crisis of his time. With public confidence shaken by the nearly successful assassination attempt on the prime minister and eroded by the government's hushed cover-up of the attempt's details, the IPP's popularity was at an all-time low, and voters showed their disapproval, voting a record-setting number of seats to the more radical Islamic Unity Party, with minority and special-interest parties gaining seats as well. The prime minister's government remains in power only by the narrowest of margins, although there are rumors that the Islamic Unity Party may call for a vote of no confidence to oust the prime minister. The IUP quickly took advantage of its advantage, pushing through a flurry of legislation for increased military spending and fighting for increased terms of military service. "The peace of the capitalist imperials has failed," Mustafa Qaman, leader of the IUP proclaimed. "It is in war that the fates of our people must be decided, and we must fight with strength and courage to ensure that that fate is a glorious one!"

Subj: Welcome

The United States government would like to thank the Olympic Committee in Greece for the selection of the New York site, and would also like to extend the warmest greetings to the athletes from around the world who will be making the journey here. The New York Olympic Village has been constructed five miles north of the suburbs of the city, and the Olympic Stadium is nearing completion, and should be finished by the time the last athletes arrive. This grand stadium of marble and limestone will seat 125,000 spectators, and will host track and field events and the opening and closing ceremonies. The US is looking forward to seeing foreign visitors to cheer on their athletes, and the Atlantic Sailing Company has authorized the sale of specially priced tickets to those wishing to come see their Olympians. A ticket equivelant to $51 US dollars will buy you a round trip to and from New York, to any port of call serviced by Atlantic Sailing. The company has 51 international ports, and it is hoped this will bring unprecedented numbers to this momentous event

Though Germany's former government saw fit to meddle in the internal affairs of others, it is not the policy of this government to do any such thing. The US will remain neutral until a viable government takes power in Germany.

France shall stand by th German democracy in its time of need. For the freedom of all German people we are sending our 7th and 8th armies to aid yours in the task of defeating the rebels.

Socialist Freedom Party Support Plummets!
The SDF's support in France has plummeted after the out-break of the Civil War in Germany. Their was reported looting of SDF buildings earlier today as the population showed it's backing for the right-wing.
SDF Franc Bertrand has continually attempted to tell the French people that his party does not support and only condones the attrocities in Germany, although the French people don't seem to be listening to his desperate calls...
From The French Parisian

I am speaking for the whole Venice Pact when I say that we will support all moves against the rebels. Allthough I am not willing to send troops I can send you some material (oil) from our Norweigan deposits.

Emergency dispatch from the government of Gothart von Hotzendorf
I am incredibly thankful that so many powers have offered their support to my government in its darkest hour. The sacrifice of theirs shall not go unrewarded and we will work, fight, and pray side by side with our friends in France, Russia, Italy and Sweden.

At the same time, I would like to thank America, for finally revealing to the world her true colors as an isolationist and vengeful nation. It would appear it was quite logical for us to boycott them, as they have made themselves shown as the appitamy of selfishness. Democracy was born in America, and I fear it may die here, in America, or in both.

The DKP has reportedly seated its capital at Konigsberg on the Vistula river. So far they have control over the major German cities Maderburg, Leipzig, Dresden, Munich, Gdansk, Warsaw, Prague, Krakow and Teschen. This has also cut of the German border with her allies in Russia, and I ask that she drive all along the front to quickly rejoin our borders.

Lastly, Berlin is in danger of being beseiged. Maderburg reportedly contains 3 divisions of DKP forces: we pray that they do not reach our beloved city.

"Although our American friends have decided not to intervene in Germany, the Brazilian government sees it together with its ally Sweden as her mission to defend Democracy all over the world.
So I assure the rightful German government under Chancellor von Hotzendorf our full support;we will stop any economic relation with the communist rebels and send military help to the
democratic Government if requested."

Extra! Russia fights for democracy in German civil warExtra!
Russian 1st and 4th armies have crossed the frontier to seize communist strongholds in east Germany and alleviate the besieged government in Berlin, after the German chancellor sent a plea for help from his offices.
The campaign is not expected to last very long, as we believe the Grand White army has much better morale than the misguided forces of the communists, and we know there is help coming from other free nations too.

To Chancellor von Hotzendorf of Germany
I have just sent my 1st and 4th armies to free the East German frontier, and they will be supported by the 5th Squadron.
At the same time, I wish to inform you that I have a special forces group with two paratroop regiments ready to drop on Berlin and aid your defence, if you should wish so.
May god protect you.
Premier Nicolay Alexandrovich Romanov

"And so it begins..." Nicolay muttered as his aides shoved the little figures that denoted his armies over the border to one of his closest friends...

Fr: President Cain

Sigh. Okay, perhaps if I use simpler language...

The US will not meddle in the internal affairs of other nations, no matter if that nation is a staunch democratic ally or a bastion of fascist evil. The uprisings across Germnay are obviously supported by a great many people, why is their cause any more or less legitimate than your own? To them, you are the evil oppressor, the one who scythes their dreams with nary a thought. The policies of Germany should be decided by Germans, so America has no place over there. I have no wish to see American boys bleed and suffer and die simply because you can't stomach the thought of half your population despising your pretty little republic. Keep democracy functioning longer than 3 years, and then you can make snide comments about governments that have guaranteed and fought for freedom for almost 200 years.

Oh, and appitamy isn't even a word. I think the word you were struggling for is 'epitome' I've enclosed a volume of Webster's New English Dictionary so that hopefully your ignorance can be somewhat contained.

(OOC: No hard feelings, just getting into character....bickering is fun ;) )

I find it ironic that this is spouting from the government who virtually set up our Republic back in 1919. Functioning for more than 3 years? Well buddy, its been working for 16. If you want to step away from your claim of 'making the world safe for democracy' then I see no reason why my government should pay any attention to trumped-up little fools such as yourself.

Enjoy the peace you have over there--just because you're citizens and fighting men can't fight doesn't mean we Europeans can't.

Despite the raging conflicts in the rest of the world, The Asian Leauge stands peaceful yet strong. China's economy is doing well, and small business sales are at an all-time high, according to the Beijing Dragon. Yet China's powerful army stands ready to bring revenge upon Spain in assitance to Japan.

Subject: Civil War

We give our deepest regrets you are in such a bad position, and we would be willing to help you if the nations that are already helping are not enough.

Yours,

Chairman Matt Sung-Hui

[OOC]Matt, considering you're a Communinst nation, you might want to consider aiding the Communists. It just seems that no one is taking their side, and in the interest of a good game...[/OOC]

OOC: I was a Communist, but now I am a Republic. I will still help the communists if I knew what the were. /OOC

Right, Germany, Britain, Sweden, Canada and Italy(Luffaren's back) all need to have their latest buys in by TONIGHT!

Remember after this one, it reverts to 100 gold per week!

And finally, Spain will become a neutral nation once more, as Dazer doesn't seem to be playing.

To Chairman Matt Sung-Hui of China:
We are very pleased that your country grants Japan the support it needs to handle this crisis. We still have not heard a word from Spain and will give them one more chance to resolve the whole matter. Japan wants peace after all, but we are willing to defend ourselves from evil.
Emperor Kwan-Sn

To Spain:
This is our last attempt to establish some kind of communication between our two nations. The blockade that is taking place should by now have had some effects on your colony. Japan gives you another 24 hours to contact us but if you fail again to meet this deadline We have no other choice than to draw the consequences.
Emperor Kwan-Sn

To Chancellor Gothart von Hotzendorf of Germany:
We are very sorry to hear that civil war has erupted in your country. First the death of Hindenburg and now this. Very dark times indeed for Germany but as for now we have to inform you that Japan won't be taking sides in this conflict. We are sure that you will be able to handle this crisis.
Emperor Kwan-Sn

The Spanish President marched to the podium, then began to address the media.

"Spain sees Japanese actions as agressive. We have already despatched one of our carrier battlegroups to the area to halt their incursions, and assure the Japanese we will be carrying out our own investigation into the piracy that has plagued the Pacific and Indian Oceans recently.

"The Barcelona battlegroup has my full authority to destroy any pirate vessels and havens that it comes across, and its aircraft will be sweeping the area looking for such things.

"This however is a warning to Japan. Their movements into Spanish territory are an act of war, and Spain will react as such if they do not pull back within one day. Our carrier battlegroup, plus the army on our colony have been set on full alert."

I still need Italy, Germany and Britain's buys. These MUST be in soon!

From now on, to speed up the process, I will the night before a buy or order PM you a form with your deployments and orders on so that it is easy to edit and send back.

For Wednesdays, it will be in this form:

1st Army
Orders: Defend country.

2nd Fleet
Orders: Defend coast.

etc

For Saturdays and Sundays, it will be in this form:

1st Army
2 tank regiments
3 infantry regiments
Orders: Defend country.

2nd Fleet
1 aircraft carrier
2 destroyers
Orders: Defend coast.

etc

I will also include the amount of gold you get that week on the Sat/Sun ones.

I hope this will make it easier for us all, and as I will be copying and pasting from the documents I have of deployments you sent me, it will be in the style you like(ie with ship names for Japan etc). This also means that spelling errors are your fault :p

I would like to remind you all if you are going to be away for a Sat/Sun, that you tell me so I can send you the deployment sheet early so that you can buy things early, although this won't come into being until that day.

If you're going to be away for a Wednesday but not a Sat/Sun period, there is no need to tell me unless you want to change orders.

Oh, and NO PM IS NEEDED ON A WEDNESDAY if you aren't changing your orders!

HEADLINES

GERMANY ON THE OFFENSIVE

The Communist rebels in Bavaria came under fierce attack today from two huge Panzer corps raised from the passionate people of Berlin, who want their republic to endure.

The outcome of the battle is unknown as yet, but should be revealed soon(OOC- ie; tomorrow!).

SPAIN DEMANDS JAPANESE WITHDRAWL

Spain demanded the withdrawal of Japanese units from Spanish territory and waters today, and demanded an end to the blockade.

The argument is over the Pacific pirates, who seem to be operating out of bases in Spanish territory.

SAS UNCOVER SECRET BASE

The British SAS today discovered a remote pirate's haven on the Australian coast. Sources say that it seems to be the base that the Pacific pirates have been operating out of.

The SAS commander said that the base had been hard to find due to its remote location, and said stumbling upon it was "pure dumb luck".

SOUTH AFRICA BUILDS UP, BUT WHAT IS THEIR MOTIVE?

The kingdom of South Africa's army is expanding at an alarming rate, according to sources. Figures point to South Africa having nearly 20 tank regiments and 20 infantry regiments under arms, not to mention "significant" air assets and a powerful fleet.

But what is this build-up in aid of? Is it really for defence as the South African government say, or is it for some other, more sinister, purpose?

PRESIDENT DON DAZE II RESIGNS

President Don Daze II resigned due to ill health today, after a series of illnesses has kept him from doing his job as leader of Spain.

He said that it "isn't fair upon the people, having a leader who's never well".

He will be sadly missed by his people.

His Vice President now takes control of Spain, and immediately begins the build-up of Spain's military, which under Don Daze II was "weaker than a village militia!" according to him.

TRINITY ALLIANCE FORMED

Spain, Greece and Egypt have signed an alliance that will guarantee them security. Each nation has two carrier battlegroups, which makes this alliance a potent naval power. Also, the alliance is strong in the air, and quite strong on land. The three nations have made it clear that they are peaceful, and this alliance is to guarantee their security. The Trinity Alliance is likely to back Spain in a war against Japan should it ever come to that, although fighting a war against a nation half the world away is unwanted by all.

TO DEXTER

If France sells her Indo-Chinese possessions, she will be liable for a cut in her weekly allowance, as land is part of what gives you that money.

If she sells Indo-China, the resulting stability in her own economy would lead to only a 30 gold a week cut. If she sells the African colonies, that will be an extra 20 gold cut.
