2 carriers (both with +1 movement)
6 fighters
1 Destroyer (with health regen)
3 battleships (all with mass str upgrades)
2 transports (both with +1 movement)
8 marines

I first used this combo when i completed a quest on BTS. now i use it in every game, i have 1 or 2 of these battle groups. They are almost invincible, and take out coastal cities almost guaranteed.

Use the ships ot bombard city defences, use the fighters to attack the units to weaken them, then smash them with marines!!! if it was'nt for this tactic i dunno how i'd win a game, with their cities all over the joint.

oh, and a nice touch u can add (i managed to do it last game)

make sure u have a maceman or two left over with city raider lvl 3.

upgrade him to infantry, and add a general to him. get +100% unit experience and also add amphibious assault.

If this doesn't work just add a general to a normal marine.

I love this tactic!!!

Guided missiles + handful of blitz battleships will smash it easily

what could you possibly achieve with only 8 marines? better to bring 20 transports + 10 battleships + 10 destroyers. KISS

It's not a bad ratio of units for an amphibious attack, but I'd probably scale it up three or four times to be effective in most modern age games. It's also vulnerable to having a nuke dropped on it.

I'd probably have 4-5 of those groups but once the war is underway (or during the initial assault) keep them about that size so you can target and capture multiple cities immediately upon DoW. Once that is done bring them together for defensive support until you achieve naval superiority then split them back up to quickly take out the rest of the cities.

Hi

One thing I would change is if by health regen you mean medic. I would put medic promo on a transport and not a destroyer. Less chance of losing the medicand frees up one more combat oriented promo on the destroyer.

add 2-3 submarines. Have them range forward and to the sides of your battle group. Add 3-4 more transports. 8 Marines may take a foreign city but probably won't hold it very long.

@doubleK, I think the reason he gave the destroyer medic1 is so he could give navigation to the transports. This allows them to move with the rest of the ships at full speed. I usually build Red Cross in a naval city so all ships have Medic1.
