Unable To Sneeze

Greetings,

For a couple of days, I've felt some pain in my back right... kind of where the ribs are, but in the back instead. This has given me some slight pain when trying to breathe deeply. However, the most annoying think about it is that it is effectively nullifying all my attempts to sneeze. When I start to breathe in to get ready for a sneeze, this pain jumps in and cancels the entire sneeze.

The issue is, am I doomed to disease and sickness if I am unable to expel the bad things in my body via the sneeze mechanism?

Eagerly awaiting the prognosis of arm-chair doctors ;)

ADDED: For what it's worth, I suspect that the pain might be from a concert I went to a few days ago... but I strangely didn't encounter any such problems the very next day.

??? Stage diving? Mosh pit?

If it were lower I might suspect kidney problems, but as high as your ribs sounds more like trauma. If you lived in a civilised country you would naturally go to a doctor, but you live in the US, so just hope you don't die, because you probably can't afford to go to a doctor. Don't vote for anyone trying to help you and the 40+% of Americans like you to have better access to health care, because that would be socialism.

I'm in Canada, the land of universal health care, so I don't ever have to worry about my health and well-being :D

I'm not going to a doctor. I never go to a doctor. Well, I've been before, but I don't go for things I suspect will go away on their own.

As for the reason, I'm guessing it's from the moshing, though last time, I only had my frontal abdomen's organs hurt (such that I'd have to pause before continuing).

It could easily be a broken or bruised rib!

People are too quick to say "go to a doctor". I'd understand a professional telling me that, but you guys have no liability or responsibility!

I'd imagine that if it's a broken rib, I'd probably feel significantly more pain. Bruised, maybe, but that doesn't really affect anything.

Well, "go see a doctor" is my advice for everything.

Go to Cuba.

On a more serious note, just see the doctor. You. have. to.

Possibly see a doctor, but also check to see if its a bruised rib of some sort. Of course, maybe one half of your body is sore from carrying only box B around while the other is fresh.

Seriously, head to doctor (is this why you're so Defiant? ;)). Prolonged pain in a rib coupled with breathing pains is a problem. I've had it before. If you really are adamant, then I suggest:

1) Soak the muscles behind the rib/lung in the back with hot water. Have a relaxing cup of tea.
2) Rub Bengay or another pain-relieving ointment on the spot.
3) Have a good night's rest.

if the pain persists...

well, we've all already said it. :)

Try Levitra. I hear it works for everything.

Unable to sneeze? Happened suddenly, with no apparent cause? It might be a small pneumothorax... and obviously get a medical opinion.

I heard that if you were unable to sneeze that meant that there was something wrong with your body. You should see your doctor HMO.

Could be pinched nerves. The football team's chiropractor determined that I had pinched nerves around my ribs back when I was playing in high school and it I did tend to feel it more towards the back rather than the front.

But I am no doctor.
