OK, there's something extremely strange happening to my speakers. I've started to hear voices on them, like a radio (I've heard a few snatches of programs, all at the same time. I just heard '...rainscroft reports...', in a british accent), even when there isn't anything open that has audio. I thought it might be an ad or internet related, but the thing is, they still go on when I'm disconnected. I've also noticed that the 'radio' is the clearest when the volume's at it's lowest. So, my question is, is that normal? Can computer speakers get radio signals? Or am I just hearing things?

Ummm why did this get posted 3 times? I know I edited it after posting, but I didn't post new threads. Maybe it was that 'posting after 30 seconds' thing. Anyways, keep this one, if anyone deletes the other two (unless you have no time and just get rid of the first 2 you see).

2 minutes later: Wow, that was fast. Now that that's fixed, back to my question. Is it normal for PC speakers to pick up radio signals? Or, at least, is it normal for radio signals to be heard on speakers.

YOur speakers are indeed recieving a radio signal. Im not certain about how to go about solving the problem though, as I just remember someone asking about this about half a year back. You might want to even search to Comp Talk forum to see if you cant find the thread.

Taking what I know about radio, installing frequency blocking crystals in your speakers would get rid of the signal. Of course, this would be a pain, and might not work. If you listen carefully, you might hear the program announce the frequency and call sign sometime, and you might be able to go from there.

A similar thing happens to me with both my computer and my TV. Sometimes I hear morse code like blips when I get a call on my cell phone while in the house.

Just physically move your speaker wire so that it is positioned slightly differently. For best results, completely separate your speakers from your desk/where-ever, then put them back.

Changing the length of the cables might also work. Man, I was thinking too deep when I said crystals.

Heh, yeah I had this problem way back too. My problem was mainly cheap speakers. It's usually happens ecause the wires running from your PC to your speakers or between the speakers themselves are acting as an antenna. As suggested above, moving them should help. You could try bundling and zip tying the slack, I think that's what worked for me.
