UNGY7 We'll do it by ourself

I intend to grow the city and starve for maximum GPP during GA, and windmills are better than mine and unmatured cottages during GA.
All good--not to nitpick a minor thing but that seems like more reason to work the corn.
Very possibly we got auto allocated off it as we're unhealthy and at happy cap.

Switch to bank in new york. Next turn GA, switch merc. assign 6 specs in capital, get economics in 2 turns now. From here on i build mostly financials in cities as we'll need our own money to saty afloat this game.2 cities have citizens instead of specs assigned, work hammer tiles to get forges asap. Refrain from whipping, most cities have decant production and are 2-3 under happy cap. Runnning specs at cap is better than whipping buildings since these buildings don't multiply much without specs assigned.

Pick up a bunch of techs this set, should have begun drama after economics but forgot. Remembered after i teched optics. Theaters are almost done so we should be in time to get globe up before we'll need it.

And meet some three other civs, Izz hates everyone including us and is hated by everyone in return.

Angry as expected

She looks especially nasty this time, she's leading us in score by some 1000 pts.

Sulei, surprised he let himself be vassalized, he's usually strong.

We get a third GM. That's not bad at all actually since money is a problem this game.
Boudica has just declared on Izzy , lots of hatred going around there. I'm afraid Izzy will be murdered in the upcoming battle. Boudica'll be a challenging opponent this game.

Another spec will be born in capital soon.Health and happy cap prevent us unfortunately from working all the useful tiles and running specs.

Pretty good, Dirk.

3GM, a pile of gold.

Let's build some privateers and put them for some good usage.

What i like about this game is that apart from the capital we really farmed everything and lots of the mines got mills on them for even more food. Still research is quite good. Capital with all the settled specs helps of course but we have no trade routes, no gold from ais and apart from the capital i didn't assign much specs as i tried to grow the cities to cap first so we'll be able to get more research in the near future should we need it.

I'm beginning to get more and more convinced that apart from the capital farms instead of cottages should be built pre emancipation. Empire is much more flexible that way as this empire for instance will switch very easily to whipping if needed. And assigned specs deliver as much commerce as villages do under rep not counting gpp.

Yeah, having pyramids/sankore is definitely an extra bonus.
Btw, I'd declare on Izzy, she'd never like you too much and she'd be soon smashed by Boudica and her vassal. I dont know if you can get Boudica to pleased, possible under free religion I guess or US.

We're too late to declare on Izzy i think. Boudica'll mangle her before we'll have an army up. It'll help with relations for some turns but that'll go away. We'll be asked to declare i think, that may be a good time. It'll be hard to get Boudica to pleased. I wonder btw if bribing/gifting is allowed this game?

I meant for diplo points. I'd not even consider sending troops, yet. But temporary diplo is still useful and I see no downside.
>>I wonder btw if bribing/gifting is allowed this game?
I think ungy told full, as long as the effect was not material, i.e. you should be able to give tech for free. +4 for fair trade, +1-2 for war and free religion should be enough to please boudica, perhaps. You can give her some resources (doubtful, though).

Resources'll help but it will take a while. FR hurts as OR is so much better. But maybe it's necessary later. Rules on bribes and gifting are clear indeed. Couldn't find anything on map trading at a glance though.

hrmph, given we can't bribe a war stop, this will seriously upset the balance imho. Boudica gets too strong. Way too strong. Not that I have any brilliant ideas.

however, if we bribe to stop the war, we could bribe, stop, declare ourselves on boudica(it'll be a while till she can reach us and ai invasions are usually pathetic anyway - this will give the advantage of her not declaring on anyone else so she won't steamroll around)

We can bribe a war stop. Enough techs to do it as well. Need to get her to pleased before we can do it probably. As for Boudica turning on the others', we'll get there first won't we? It's why i asked if map trading is allowed, that could help us.

yes war stop is OK.
hadn't thought about the map trade--seems like no OB and no map is a little harsh but it is definately something tangible to us so I would lean to disallowing the map trade.

I'd not consider any war plan vs Boudica's continent until we conquer the other continent. Take easy one to solve our happy and health issue 1st.

It does not matter if Boudica tries to conquer others. Without a huge land herself, AI sucks at inter-continent war.

Roster:

Dirk--just played
Snowly--UP
Ungy--on deck
Duckweed

Snowly can you get this?
If not, I'll get it after my AW set

Finish astro and use caravel to scout asap, build a second too i think. Start Globe when possible. Finish markets, banks and grocers. After astro it'll be time for gunpowder/chemistry i think. Maybe this needs some discussion since we can conquer weak ais faster with cavs so miltrad and rifling might be better. Use the 3 GM's for TM's. We can run a high slider for quite some time.

I found the set pretty easy to play, it all more or less plays itself as it's to early to build loads of units, we don't have the techs to that atm. It'll get more interesting if we find more land to settle or if the unknown ais are very weak, in that case we may have to switch to unit building.
