Unit: Clipper (Oct 1st, 2004)

A gorgeous unit, aaglo. No more galleons transforming into landing craft for me!

BTW, that reed boat request sounds pretty cool, too!

:wow:

Quite simply your best unit yet! Shall you ever cease to amaze?:goodjob:

Yeah, Colonel, you're definitely being WAY too hard on yourself... yours was truly amazing for cut and paste. I'd say probably the single greatest cut and paste job I've ever seen. Indeed, I would've used it in a second if it'd been completed. Well, now we have a solution to that problem! :D

Looks absolutely great.

What are your plans for your next ship

Old Ironsides

Aaglo, a masterpiece yet again!

UPDATE!

I noticed a flaw in the run animation on both clippers - the jib-sails ('lanteen' sails between the masts) movement is a bit crazy. Now they are like they were intended. See the thread starter post for new run-demo and for the updated files.

Sorry for the inconvinience :)

Excellent aaglo ...The Run animation looks much better without the jib sails radically bouncing. Thanks for the correction, it adds to the smooth beauty of your Wonderful creation. The Clipper is a Very Esthetic ship and you have done a superb job with the animation...Love the realistic "movement on the High Seas" affect you achieved along with the overall beauty. :thanx:

Tech: Nationalism?
Stats: A/D/M = 1/1/6, transports 5 units?

Clipper ships were the Concordes of their day - they were very fast by the standards of the time, but had small cargo holds, and were never heavily armed. Thus, I'm going to use:

Nationalism: 0/0/6, transports only 3.

They will rely on speed to stay away from warships. Thanks again!

Hmm... I don't really feel comfortable taking a hit in the transport capacity department... I'm going to make it the middle man between the Galleon and the Transport. Basically, even if the cargohold is smaller, there might be more of them since a unit is an indefinite number of troops/vessels/vehicles.

 I don't know what happens to a naval unit with Attack and Defense = 0 if attacked; is it "captured" like a ground unit?? Sorry IbnSina, but I think is not realistic the Clipper having A/D=0 where the Curragh has A/D=1. Don't you?

I also agree with Dom Pedro II for the cargo..
