I'm new to this (My Civ crashed tonight in single palyer with 8 turns left and i was kicking Empire ass)

My question is, I had a . .. .. .. . load of military units but each turn i was given the choices of units i had no interest in using so i kept putting them to sleep. I'd look around the map for my other units and even though the >End turn< was flashing i could pick that unit and assign moves to it.

Why doesn't Civ go to all my available units in one turn and how does it decide which units I can move. My empire was so huge i got lost and confused with what was where and where was what.

Hope that made sense:)

Units which you fortify or otherwise put to sleep will not be highlighted for you to move each turn (it would simply get annoying to tell your city garrisons to do nothing every turn). You can still activate them manually and move them, but the game won't keep bugging you about them.

Hi thanks for the reply.

I'd be in the 'heat' of battle and move a unit I want to use toward the enemy. I'd also be making and moving about 20 units all around the map.

I'd have a unit right beside an enemy City I was attacking with other units and my new units wouldn't get a look in on my turn. How does Civ decide which units get a turn? I found it all really confusing and in the end I didn't know what was where or what units were gonna be in on the battle, in the end I just used The Force:)

The game should cycle through all your units that you haven't fortified or put to sleep (or are in ships or anything like that). Unless you've specifically told them to do one of these things it should be cycling through the units. Every unit can move every turn, there's no restriction there.

Thanks, I just think I'm confused in general. It was my first full game and it got a bit overwhelming although toward the end of the game i was just pumping out military units and not even bothering with my Cities needs.

what options i would do:

1) i would stack them 2gether the put them on sentry...that way, if the bad guys brush past they wake up... do several stacks

2) have them move closer to the action (set a rally point) then place them to sleep / sentry / fortify.

3) have the cities that build them stop building them and either make $$ or science or another building

4) give a few to your vassals make them happy
