Unit Mecha

I actually gave them a movement of 2 with all terrain as roads, so they move quickly and get multiple attacks. Games like Mechwarrior have this sort of thing travelling at 80 kph or greater. I also set them as wheeled so they cannot go through jungle or mountain tiles. Attack and Defense are set above modern armour by a significant amount. I think they were similar to the Battleship. And, indeed, they are walking battleships.

i dont know where exactly i am supposed to extract the files to. could someone tell me please? oh keep up the good work Kinboat. i have always loved them mechwarriors. :)

U place the unit folder in your art/units folder with in the Civ3 directory, but to play it u have to open up civ mod and choose edit rules in the scenario bar and make a unit with the exact same name. then u adjust his stats and add special abilitys and edit pediacons.txt in the text folder within the Civ3 folder find were the units are and type in ur unit name with the path to his picture for the cyclopedia! OR U CAN DOWNLOAD MY SCENARIO ;)

BY THE WAY u like mechwarrior? check out my FUTURE SCENARIO WITH MECHS at http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=28044&perpage=20&display=&pagenumber=1

thankyou but could someone please explain it with a bit more depth. thanks

That's another way to do it I suppose, but I'm using them as sort of the first steps in the "ecology" of bipedal warmachines, so their stats are similar to those of armoured units except for the movement rate (I edited all tracked and wheeled vehicles to "wheeled" so they get balked by mountains and heavy forest) This lets my mechs go anywhere (like infantry). I then use the Gundam, etc as my more advanced units which then have far superior stats.

Just my personal preference though.

Oh yeah, Kinboat, got the model files you sent and they helped a lot just one problem. How the bollocks do I get my output files into flcster. I'm having palette problems:cry:. Any help would be appreciated. I looked through Dark Sheer's tut, but he's mainly concerned with hand creating units. If anybody can help I would appreciate it.

Yeah palettes are a hideous Bi*ch goddess :) I open up the output image in a simple editing program and try to match it up with an original unit with similar colors... Then I just edit a few of the colors to get it to transfer better. If you open up one of my more recent units (the LanciaIZM would be best) and look at the palette you'll see how I changed the transparencies near the bottom... This way the cast shadows (on a pink background) come out darker pink and are converted to the nearest thing on the palette, which makes them automaticly shadows (no more hand editing :) ). Other than that I don't know... Hand editing each palette entry to perfectly match is far beyond my time or patience quotient, and I don't know of a program that would help automate it.

Come to think of it, maybe I shouldn't have started trying to learn how to use 3 progs at the same time (moray, flcster and paintshop pro 7) Man, it's making my head hurt.

Awesome...the mech and the fighter are a MUST.

Make sure you get both Mechs HighCouncil!

Where is the link for the chain gun variant? I got the reg. mech & i love it!!

Check the unit library that Lab Monkey has set up (god I hope that's his name :) ) it's listed in there... The first page has an index.

This might have been answered elsewhere but I'll ask anyway any sounds for these mecha?

I'm pretty sure I just used the Radar Artillery's sounds for the attack and such... I don't have any specific sounds for this.
