Unit movement keys on a Powerbook?

I'm running on a 12" PB with Panther, and have been having a few problems (I'm on 1.29f)

First of all, to move units I apparently need to have the "Num Lock" key turned on, which of course makes the hotkeys for unit actions NOT work. Is there a way to use keys other than the keypad to move units?

Additionally, it seems that Cmd-Tab (application switching) does not work when I am in Civ, so anytime I need to change to another app (when I get an email, for example) I have to quit the game. Any advice?

Thanks!

You can move units using the mouse/trackpad. I don't think I ever use the keyboard for movements, but I don't run it on a 'book.

Cmd-P or Cmd-H will pause/hide the Civ3 app and leave it running while you attend to non-essential tasks. You then get a Resume button to press to get back the primary function your Powerbook was designed for ;).

I've had to get used to keeping one hand on the keyboard and one on the trackpad for Control+clicking, so I just hold down the Fn key and hit the appropriate numeric key.
