unit preview: french paratrooper + "peace keeper"

When will this one be finished? Sorry, can´t exactly tell when but I´m working on it, honestly. I just began work on the attack animation but then I decided to go back and change the default pose.

Here are three different variations of the default view:

The first one is the one that all other animation (e.g. fidget, fortify animation etc.) refer to at the moment. The problem here is that in most of the angles the unit looks a bit weird. So, I changed the default pose a bit and made it less "dynamic". The result is that almost all angles look o.k., but not very interesting. The last version is just the second but with only the right hand on the weapon. It´s the best default pose of the three in my view.
Now, which one do you prefer? (the default pose for the paratrooper and peace keeper are the same)

Here is an ingame preview of the default animation (parachutiste):

I had to change the colors because the original ones didn´t fit well compared to the other units. With the new colors the unit is still hard to spot in forest tiles though (which may be a good thing). What do you think?

And here is a first preview of the peace keeper version:

I still need to test those colors in the game. Anyway, what do you think about them so far? The dark blue area is supposed to be a bullet-proofed vest and the blue patch on the back is just for identification (that it is a peace keeper). I originally wanted "UN" on the back but that didn´t work out the way I planned it.

BTW what earth map is that?

I agree that it looks good. Is there any civ colours on the peace keeper?

Yoda, I think that is Kal-el's 140 map.

Thanks.
I hope I can keep the colors for the peace keeper when I test it in the game (I´m afraid the blue may be a bit too dark).

Yoda Power:
The map is Kal-el´s world map combined with snoopy´s terrain.

mrtn:
The red is the civ color on the peace keeper (blue for the parachutiste because of the red beret).

I used this picture as reference for the peace keeper:

I also have a picture of a peace keeper with normal camo clothes on so I guess it varies from troop to troop. Without the blue vest, however, the unit would look much like the parachutiste (besides the helmet).

I know this probably has been kicked around before, but it would be appropriate to consider the proper use of the peacekeeper with the future release of this fine unit.

Would it be possible to have a 1) no attack or very low attack, 2) high defense, and 3) hidden nationality unit that you could send to countries to interpose between an attacker and a defender? The problems are 1) both civs would attack it, 2) the AI would never use it. I suppose you could drop the hidden nationality, get a ROP, and, for instance insulate your ally's border from its enemies with your high-defense "peacekeepers."

I find the hidden nationality option attractive b/c of what has been discussed previously on other fora: assisting friendly, smaller countries against hegemonic larger civs (who are your rivals) without going to war yourself. If you can't transfer units to the smaller civ, then send in the blue helmets. Any thoughts?

Anthoer thing, I'm thinking of putting out a Canadian Mod, so... could I use the peacekeeper for the UU, please??? Thanks!

PS- Looks great! :goodjob:

PPS- the bullet-proof vest should be the civ color...

I think the peace keeper looks great just the way he is, don't change a thing :)

I actualy prefer the relaxed pose to the default, remember it rather seldom thet you see a ground unit in the default pose, most of the time its either running or fortified. The relaxed pose would make it easy to tell the difference between default and fortified, but I guess as hes going to be crouching in the fortify thats not a problem.

Ooh can't wait to see this one finished. well actually I can wait. with much delight.
