Unit Request: Stryker

Stryker's aren't a bad vehicle. I fought in them in Iraq. I would love to see a Stryker unit I could use in CIV. Let me know if one ends up being produced.
I can guarentee I will complete this unit.
I am just sorting out another unit right now.

I can find anything these days it seems
I sent the model to bjornlo last night.

It is a wonderful model. Thanks again Wyrmshadow.

Due to Wyrmshadow finding and kindly sharing this brilliant base model, the Stryker will be the next unit I do after I finish the C-295.
I no longer have to re-do any of the old model I put together. I will instead just put in a "junk folder" to save the parts for possible later use.

Wow damn great Unit if finished and release...any update on this one??looks great 4 sci-fi space marine scenario combined with muffins space marine:goodjob:

Just a quick preview to show I have started working on this unit.

I was doing alot of work recoloring the textures to have blue bits here and there, so it would all be visible... when it hit me, the gun mount is moderately large with out being too dominent... and is visible from all facings.
The size seems right, comparing it to my Hummer Avenger v2 and Firaxis units.
The color "might" be a little dark.
Other minor changes from the preview posted by Wyrmshadow include some minor changes to the wheels and a few of the trim pieces.
Since the gun is operated by remote control, and the model I got from Wyrmshadow was 90% complete and ready but ready to roll (even had working suspension), this one should not take too long. Hopefully on or before next weekend (depending on my work schedule).

Not much of an update, but here are the final colors and the final model.
Changes since last preview:
lightened the color over all. Boosted the contrast slightly. Darkened and slightly thickened the antennas.

Can't wait. Looking forward to seeing it.

Yeah shameful..
The first version/model I madel I made in photoshop around 7 months ago. It wasn't very good, and I decided to not release it, but figure out how to use my recently purchased 3d tools.
The second version I made a or two month later in Bryce. It too was pretty rough.
Another month passed, then this fellow who makes photo-realistic models offered me free use of his fancy model, only I had to wait until got it converted from the proprietary MAC software he used to one of the industry standard formats. After a month or more of trying and let me know the model was too complex for his 800.00 translator software.
Finally I was just about to go back and fix my 2nd version, when Wyrmshadow dropped the latest model my way. Not as fancy as the 6million poly one... nor as crude my own. A reasonable quality given the size at which it was to be used.

Finally I am nearly done with this unit. I have to make the fortify and victory.
The attack, default, fidget, run are done. Death is nearly done. Then it is just to render the frames, render the civilopedia icons, assemble the frames into storyboards, get the palette done, do some testing on the animations, consider making some custom sounds, consider making a wallpaper, type the text and release.
I should be done this weekend.

Wow, even the antennas are in the right place. Extremely accurate detail. Don't know where you are on the death animation, but I can tell you that when a Stryker goes, the flames come from under the front slope to the right of the driver, and out the bottom two rear corners, nearly everytime (before the tires catch). Kinda a safety feature if you will. Lots of smoke comes out the hatches though...

Ok my death was nothing like that. I will see about re-doing it to be maybe a "little" more accurate. Absolute accuracy might not look that great in game, plus I try and limit my animations to 16 frames so that my units work well on any system, not just the really fast ones.

I am not done with the unit. I got a request to change some of the texture details and I'm doing that. I am still working on a new death to more closely match the in house expert on what a dying Stryker would look like.
I should have some time tomorrow to work on it.
In the meantime I threw together this wallpaper preview. It is loosely based on the the Iraqi landscape. I lack the artistic skill to make it look exactly like Iraqi. This is the first major conflict that the Styker's have been called to serve in, and so seemed fitting to try and pay some homeage there.
The colors in this wallpaper are not the same as the unit. I applied a layer of "dust" to the colors to make it a touch closer to the real deal once they have been in theater for more then 5mins.

You won't mind if I try to do a version with all the extra grate anti-RPG armor they are applying in-theater do you?
