I appreciate the advice! I'll have to try redownloading NifSkope, it gave me a lot of issues before trying to install. Even being able to make simple models myself would help a lot until I can build up to what I really want to make

As for the artillery, the attached files should be what you need to turn the vanilla artillery airborne. Hope this serves as a good base for you to put in a model of your liking. If not, post a link to the unit you would like to have and I can see what I can do (it is relatively quick to do once the necessary steps are known). Same goes for the mule if you get it at some point.

I tested the artillery. After some initial problems, it worked fine with a changed artillery modell, too.

Wow! Did you reduce the polygons at all or is this still the original model? Or did you build it from scratch? I'm in the middle of moving so I'm waiting to get settled before I get back to modding again, but there's still a lot I'm trying to do eventually

It would be strange to discourage you from using the reduction method and use it myself, no?

No, I built it from scratch. I just used my "4views method", taking pictures of the file you furnished, putting them like a cross on X,Y,-Y & Z, and then tracing the lines.
For textures, I used the same pictures from the .OBJ (that's the method I use for 50%-60% of the models I've designed and posted on CFC).
It remains a bit heavy, but we're far from the original one. It should work in Civ like a charm, if you want it. We would just have to choose the anim you want.

That's super impressive work! I can't even tell a difference from the original

I'll definitely take it and try it out, I was just gonna use Jet Fighter animations but I still have to fix NifSkope.

And I appreciate it! After I get settled in a few weeks I'll try my hand at some basic unit/building modeling

yes, but don't worry the conversion is easy, somewhere there is a converter of the civ5 file to some other format, then you import from this format to blender or another 3d editor, then you assign weight to the export bone, (and that's how I modified the mobel itself roland authored by snafusmith) and wuola.

And you are right, Blender is not that easy for me. I tried it once and and not even could do the simples thinks. Nifscope is fine for me, blender is not.

I hoped it could also be in the german Civ5 pack, but it is not. Nevertheless I got the idea to use a Neubaufahrzeug, a multi-turret tank for German Civilization.

Unfortunately no picture shows clearly the multiple turrets, I think this one is best.

Holt Artillery Tractor (only the tractor, I think I can find a suitable gun to add)

A ww1 tractor for heavy artillery.

None of this is important at the moment, but both would be interesting to have.

I just wanted to renew one older open request. The tractor does not need to be animated, because it will be added to an Artillery unit (just like my previous towed artillery units).

I wonder, if someone could do an early IFV: Mark IX, the first britisch APC, from WW I.

Once again, I have a strange request. Once, someone made me a paradrop-animation for the tank.
Now I wonder, if someone could do same for an Artillerie unit. Any kind of cold war Artillerie (best a light modell, to be realistic) that has an additional paradrop animation for airborne landing.

The second request is also for a unit with paradrop animations, but also needs a new unit: A airborne All Terrain Vehicle, like the Faun Kraka...

... or the "Mechanical Mule"

Latter either with this gun on the left picture (and firing animations) or with a TOW-launcher, the Kraka could also have a TOW launcher mounted on the loading platform for the fighting animations.

If this project is to complicated due to the animation request: If someone can do it based on the tanks skeleton and in one piece, maybe I can add this modell to the paradrop-tank-animations someone (Saibothlieh, I think) made once, so it is not necessary to do the animations again. I can also upload these animations, if it helps.

The next crazy request: I am looking for a submarine using artillery weaponry (including suitable animations).
Examples:

Britisch M-Class Submarine Monitor

German Submarine Cruiser

Another request which remains open: A second Submarine with Artillery. While Surcouf works fine, I need another type (with only one gun) for another unit.

A skyranger (not the X-Com vessel)

To be used as a modern, anti-drone-unit.
