Hey all! Today, we’re rolling out a small patch that addresses a number of reported issues and aims to improve overall stability – particularly on PS4 and PS5.

Quick note for Switch players: this patch is still on the way. In the meantime, we’ve added a new Steam beta branch to keep crossplay with Switch up and running - full Steam beta branch instructions here. Thank you to Switch players for hanging in with us while we work to push this patch out to all platforms.

🛠️ Patch notes below!
  • Made stability improvements to all platforms, and addresses multiple reported stability issues for PS4 and PS5.
  • Addressed several reported issues where civs were not unlocking correctly during an Age transition. (Unfortunately, due to the nature of this issue, this change will not apply to existing saves.)
  • Addressed a reported issue where resource icons were not scaling properly at higher resolutions.
  • Addressed a reported issue where Spain civ's City names could be missing localization.

Thanks for this! I had already started a new game with Pachacuti as the Maurya to hopefully guarantee I get to try Nepal with him, but I am glad the issue was addressed quickly.

Had a problem with units sometimes not showing their movement since the patch. Updated my graphics card drivers to the latest release. So far, so good.

Well unfortunately looks like I made a mistake or the info on this site was wrong. According to game Nepal is only unlocked by Chola not Maurya and the patch will only work with new games. Guess I still won't get my mountain Nepal game. Doubt I wanna try doing Pachuti again for 3rd time in a row.

I take it back. Nepal is unlocked!

Nepal was unlocked for me before the patch, too. I was in the middle of a Pachacuti game when the patch hit and it all just worked out.

What's the unlock condition from Nepal? And why can I only build power stations on unclaimed mountains? That's a very limited improvement and civilian unit combo.

Nepal you need to be Ashoka, maurya ( I didn't see this listed in game so thought I messed up again but it is there), Chola or have 3 cities with at least 5 mountains. That last one is the one that the patch fixed and didn't work my first game.

Why is the Modern Age longer? It should be the victory age not the drag-this-game-out-another-100-turns-artificially Age.

Least favorite change. Hate it.

The changes are more to make sure the age doesn't end too early. I just finished a modern age game mostly on the new patch (was maybe 20 turns in from the earlier version), and I still finished the econ victory by turn 65.

Modern age already was won too early.

Some of us actually enjoy playing the game.
I've already played 200+ turns of that game by the time I hit Modern age.

You can enjoy playing all you want. Delay your victory if that's what makes you happy. I don't find it fun to hit Next Turn an extra 20 times.

The changes simply cause us push Next Turn an arbitrarily extra number of times simply because they thought certain projects should cost X more hammers.

There is no fun in 'Aquire X more production.' If they had found a fun and interactive way to prolong the age maybe you would have more people on board with this decision but as it is it was a dumb decision that only prolongs the already known end of a loooong game.

It matters zero what you think. I has been known for months that aim is for this game ages last more than 100 turns. Modern too.
Now the game had bug where modern was won on average way faster than intended. Bug is now tried to fix.

Does anyone know why the game's graphics suddenly look brighter after the release of the latest patch. Now all leader models and the map itself look extremely bright, for some reason. Before the patch, the game did not have this problem on my PC. It has also been crashing at game start, something that did not happpen to me before.
