Trust me... the technical problems of the F-16 (and it's single engine) factored in... you just have to think about it really hard!

So, are you telling me damage on the nose caused the engine to shut down?
Oh wait, are the avionics in the nose by any chance? And of course if debris came in the air inlet that would be sucked in towards the engine of course.
