Used so many nukes I split the earths core..wait..wut?

Although scientifically questionable

Its not even questionable, its laughable.

There have been hundreds and hundreds of surface nuclear explosions since the 1940's, as well as several under ground.

Ha! I have got to try this as soon as I can get my dirty little hands on a copy of BTS!

I love that "Nuclear Loss" art. I wish I could make stuff like that...

stfu you dumb American, are you that dumb that you cannot tell I have been replying to this thread from work.. and do not have all day to proof read my posting!

:p

;)

Hey, not my fault that you can't spell while you're...ahem...."on the job".

:mischief:

It's a possible outcome of a science fiction scenario/mod. Of course it's unrealistic.

 This thread definitely was amusing. IMO it looked like it was genuine but I could not believe Civ with all its pseudo historial accuracy could quote something so stupid as:

"Oh No! You should have listend to your scientists: repeated nuclear explosions and meltdowns have fatally weakened the Earth's core, and the planet has cracked like an egg! Everybody loses!"

Even more laughable than repeated nuclear explosions having an effect on the Earth's core is nuclear meltdowns having an effect on the core!
While I think the event is a nice added touch for the next war mod, I'm disappointed that such a lame and scientifically wrong description was given to it. Sure, it's a joke, but in my eye it doesn't speak well of the mod. In fact, I'm fairly critical of that mod already.

Boy am I glad it was cleared up that this is not in the game though. It would have been like introducing the Holy Roman Empire as a civ and making Charlemagne its leader.;)

i cant wait till all of us have the game me included so we can all stop griping about not having it,and start talking about it like in this thread

Can someone not worldbuilder this?

Good lord! You guys are putting way too much into this. Can't you just enjoy a game as a game without needing a bunch of dreary scientific explanations as to why it should/shouldn't be included?

Here's one: All the units in the game are unrealistic because they are out of scale with the cities.

that is awesome! I suspect it's only in the mod but who knows.
oh just saw the confirmation :)

Gaius' Law fulfilled... :D

Gaius' Law: "As the length of a thread in the BtS subforum increases, the chance of a comparison to Charlemagne and the Holy Roman Empire progressively approaches one (certainty)."

lol Usually they're not disputes about scientific accuracy but rather historical accuracy. You are right that this is a game - we already have fifty million people tell us that every day in every second thread.:p

 :)

Neat feature... I would have called the 'planet death' Nuclear Winter though..., and as a graphic I would have the clouds thicken until all you see is grey... and Game Over.

Excellent, thanks for the confirm. I still think it's pretty damm funny and it brings up another good point. What other random events would you like to see people mod in?

Here's a few suggestions for events that may or may not happen when you play.

Meteor strikes that can destroy cities or change landscape.
After the invention of radio, the discovery of alien radio signals than can cause a new golden age/happines or cause panic among citizens world wide.
The off chance that the first use of a nuke will ignite the atmosphere, ending the game (they really where worried about this). You'd get a warning about this possibility before using the first nuke, and it wouldn't come up in every game.
Zombie outbreak.
"Bermuda Triangles" or spots on a game map where ships and planes mysteriously disappear.

I also like the idea of random events that effect things world wide. Some planets might have thin crusts or other anomalies that effect game play from the start. I like the unexpected.

Sounds hilarious to me. I've never got the fascination with nukes in Civ, but I guess if you're really into them this would kind of suck.

You know, the whole alien invasion thing could make for an interesting scenario...

i dont know how many of you have read Harry Turtledove's World War series but if there was a scenario where aliens come out of no where w/ much more advanced technology and start conquering the world, it would make for a really good civ game...

do you guys think this would be a good mod to make?

Edit: yea i know its off topic but i just got the idea...

This already exists. I don't know if it's a persistent area or just as random as the event itself, but I did lose an Attack Submarine at sea thanks to it.

And about zombies, you'd need to mod in the Umbrella Corporation, which gets you lots of profits but also enables the rare possibility of zombie outbreaks! They'd be like barbarians appearing in squares adjacent to some random city of yours. Or to make it even worse, you could randomly lose a city of yours to the zombies!

Of course, this doesn't fit with the no-fantasy nature of Civ4, but I think it's a damn cool idea for a mod. :D

Aww, I thought this was real. It just seemed so hilarious.

Gaius' Law: "As the length of a thread in the BtS subforum increases, the chance of a comparison to Charlemagne and the Holy Roman Empire progressively approaches one (certainty)."

Alright, that's it, how would I mod it so that quote shows up on the loading screens?
