Using boxed versions of Civ5 a day early

It's possible that my pre-order will arrive today (a day before release in the UK).

If I was to install it, would it work straight away or be locked till tomorrow? After seeing all the other restrictions ie the download unlock this got me concerned that I'd receive the box today but be unable to use it tomorrow..

Given the Wal-mart shoppers who got the game last week and we unable to play until yesterday, I'd bet you're going to have to wait.

Guess it gets shelved while I go play Dead Rising 2 which is due in the same shipment (and not locked down)

Ya steam knows where you are, so it won't let you play. Sorry. You'll have one more day to practice with the demo!! See there's a positive spin for ya!

Its a shame.

In the past one of the huge bonuses of ordering online from Game was they would ship early and you would be able to play a few days before release date. Now we may as well pick up a copy in the stores in future (If the developers are short sighted enough to use Steam)
