uu's

I like the idea of Marines for the US. It makes sense. The F-15 is sorta useless.

Redcoats would be good for the British ... but Man-of-War would be good too, because Britain should primarily be a naval power. I guess it just depends on if the navy plays a bigger role in the game or not. Mind you, when they gave the Man-of-War the Enslave ability in C3C it did become a pretty decent UU.

My personal pick for the Germans would be the Teutonic Knight. Nazism was a flash in the pan, not really Germany's golden age or anything. I'd think Germany should be more focussed around the Hanseatic League era ... there might not have been a federated state of Germany then, but there was a German "civilization".

Another one I don't like is the Byzantian Fire Ship. Yes ... they had Greek fire and all that, but they were not principally a naval power. Byzantium's chief claim to military power was on land, in the form of the Thema and later the Tagmata units.

i like the camel rider uu- they needed a camel rider for that whole area- that upgrades to a camel rider with a gun- to bad France can't have the Foreign Legion as its UU then u might have some cool graphic desert battles-
wonder what mali will have -
But germany came up with the first rockets and operational jets -not bad
uu's - there are so many knight uu's i would hate to see more- they need to spread them out-

whait, are we 100 sure uus are tied to leaders?? i thot that was a romur or some guys hopefull thinking!! so america whold get 2 uus for ex?

but the germany ur talking about with the tectonic knight wasint the modren state of germany, or germany at all. thay may be the same ethic group but ther from 2 difrent empires, 2 difrent times and 2 difrent nations and what not. the panzer unit i fill is the apitamy of modren german millitary hisstory allmost. and the leader is otto von bismark so that tells u its modren germany.

allso y do ppl say panzer tank?? dont u know saying panzer tank translates to tank tank. panzer means tank. and all thay are doing in civ by saying panzer is saying tank. witch is no difrent from the ordanry tank.. i think thay shold get a liltel more detailed on witch modle of panzer it is, like a tiger or panther or what not.. i whold like the tiger II

Well, that's civrules, not Firaxis!
I want to see the real source, cause I've been watching everything new on civ4 and thought I am quite up to date, but I nowhere read that the Camel Archer is the Arabian uu, besides, we've just seen an artwork of Camel Archers, no unit in game and no comment in a text. So, that table doesn't help me at all, but thanks nevertheless.

If UU's were tied to leaders, then Bismarck could have a Jaeger.

Personally, I would like Minuteman and B-17 Flying Fortress.

but are uus for SURE tied to leaders??

Tectonic knight!!

Right ... but the game is "Civilization" ... not "Nation" or "Empire".

It's Anglicized .... I don't think "Panzerkampfwagon" would appeal to most ppl, they probably wouldn't know what it meant.

Panzer doesn't quite mean "tank" anyway. The German word is panzerkampfwagon, meaning, literally, armoured fighting wagon. "Panzer tank" translates literally to "armoured tank". The English word "tank" stems from an incident where the British, in WW1, were trying to keep the new invention a secret, and so claimed that the parts they were shipping were for tracked water-tanks to get drinking water to the men in trenches where the ground was too smashed up for trucks. But "tanks" are often referred to in English as "armour" as well.

That is only if they are. I have no idea if they actually will be, but I think it would be an interesting idea to implement.

well, what ever happend to ppl calling them "land ships"??? and am i the last guy on earth who still calls blimps "air ships"???

the only blips ive seen are the good year blimps..do they even make them anymore.lol

How about Liberty Ships for the US UU? Basically they would be rickety transports preloaded with a couple of tanks. It could be balanced by requiring a state of war and/or a factory and harbor. The tanks could be conscript or reduced strength.

Where is the source stating that the camel archer is the Arab Unique Unit? I want something actually said by Firaxis in their press releases. Seriously, I think a camel archer for them is a pretty bad idea.

its bad..but it will never be as bad as the H'wach(?) 'koreans" from conquests...i dont know what they were smoking :crazyeye:

As I said, Lord_all_Mighty, as I said... :)

I know, but I'm wondering why Civrules would have prematurely stated that the camel archer is the uu for the Arabs.

No we are not sure. It is just speculation based on traits being tied to leaders and some of the unit choices.

As for the scorce of the information maybe you should ask CivRules about that.
