v1.983 - v1.483 - v1.183

Wow another patch? And so soon! Thanks Rhye, again I have to thank you for all the work you put into this.

I rather liked the last version and can hardly wait to see what you've done with the new one.

what? I thought this could have been the perfect compromise. If this solution still doesn't satisfies you, I give up.

I was only kidding :D As a matter of fact, I think that new patches have brought the mod even closer to perfection (I'm especially loving Magna Grecia and the Arab expansion in Africa). Thanks a lot for the hard work!

In my past two games as England, Spain and France have launched amphibious invasions of my mainland. I haven't seen the AI do this since Vanilla.... I think I'm going to cry :D

Whatever you did with the AI its beautiful. The wars we have... friggin epic. And oft historical I might add. Just got done with the RFC equivalent of the 30 Years War.

I like the changes you made to the Roman and Japanese UHVs. Japan changing the 1st in score date to 1930 to I assume represent the expansion and industralization of that country in the early 20th century and Rome "no cities lost to barbs" to 1000 AD instead of 1400AD (which I never understood and didn't really make sense to me)

Thanks Rhye.

Do people find the religions are okay? I played two games and Christianity was a tiny minority in both.

Well I guess I'll get the screenshots going: Here's mine playing as Greece on the eve of a grand Mid-east war with Babylon/Persia vs Arabia and Greece officially neutral but likely to join my classical brothers and fight Arabia in Egypt.

EDIT: turns out war wasn't necessary :)

doc, post some screen please

Alas I didn't take shots or save at those particular points. But the first time France surprised me and dropped a bunch of cavalry in Cork taking the garrison by surprise and the in the other instance Spain unloaded two Cuirrassers and a Cannon by Plymouth. Shocked.

Oh and one other I forgot in the same game Spain sent this armada of 5 Caravels and 4 Galleons in a big group and dropped a bunch of troops straight into Savannah. I've never seen that level of play from the AI before, I hope its not just a fluke but indicative of the way it will play now.

Playing as France I was invaded repeatedly by England trying to take Rennes, but not particularly well. They were sending several boatloads of trebuchets and only 1 knight or crossbowman at a time and consequently were unable to take any cities

Really? I find AI Spain (not France, though) is extremely aggressive towards a human England and semi-consistently manages to land a few units next to Plymouth. Only Plymouth; if it hasn't been founded I can usually stay at peace with Spain all-game.

is this aggressiveness something new, that never happened before 1.182?

Well I haven't played every version, but serious coastal invasions were something I hadn't seen since Vanilla RFC. They'd go nuts on land, but if you were Japan, or England you'd pretty much never see anything on your shores.

Oh another one I noticed, while I was checking the WB while trying the new version I saw China take out Kagoshima with a few catapults and later a Mongol Keshik drop on Aomori. So its not just European Civs.

Funny how AI-Persia building the Great Wall appears to have the opposite effect as I think it would for most human players; instead of securing more land being that the homeland is safe they just turtled up inside Iran and built a lot of size-2 cities

Weirdness with the research--I'm playing India for the UHV, and I had a GP in reserve to pop Divine Right immediately before the Arabs appear. I had already popped 3(!) GPs to get as far as I had on DR. So 610 AD rolls around and I go to pop my GP and there's no light bulb! Turns out DR got a heck of a lot cheaper round about 600 AD, and I had over a thousand extra points of research stacked up. Now I can research any of Currency, Horseback Riding, Compass, and a few others in one turn. Not a big deal, and probably not something that's going to come up very much, but is this a "bug" or a "feature"?

When you lightbulb with a GP, you get a bunch of beakers. If the number of beakers is enough to get the tech, you get it immediatly. Otherwise, you just have that bunch of beakers and have to finish the research for yourself (or use another GP: some people use two great scientists in a row to get education for example)

That's a feature.

The Tech cost for DR goes down around 600AD because the arabs spawn knowing it and now you are researching a tech someone else has rather than a new one so its cheaper.

the new version is fantastic but there is some bugs.
-in my game with the USA, inca still have plague in 1950. All their towns are level 1 but his troops stay alive.
-the mongolians are not strong as they should be. the chinese destroy them all the time.
-the aztec and the incan are always the weakest civ in the map. Aztec are always destroy by europeeans, but in real history, it was an incredible luck who allow europeans destroy this civilization, and they were not so weak in technology, by example, they knew astronomy better than european and they discovered paper before them.
-France die in a lot of game! i'm french and i don't like that.

(sorry for the bad english, i'm not very good with this language)
