V2 - Hello BtS

300 AD
Great General is born in Cuzco. I decided to take out this city right away so we could get the Pyramids. Except after I did it, I realize that holding onto the city will be difficult until we capture or raze at least a few other cities very soon.

375 AD
Cuzco falls and I put the build on a Monument. We lost I think 3-4 troops in the process from attacking the city and general fighting in the area.

Our catapults are coming out, switching some builds to Swordsmen which we desperately need to knock down these cities.

426 AD
Currency discovered, I put the research on Code of Laws next.

Uh oh....

Damn. I see two decent stacks of chariots and a few swords heading straight for our capital, which has exactly one archer in town. This guy will strike out of nowhere for just a little border tension. He's picked a great time to sneak attack from the north just as I was getting bogged down in the south.

We also now have war weariness. But with the Pyramids, I waited a couple turns until I quickly had more defense in the capital, then switched into Police State. This eliminated all happiness caps and speeds up military production, which is going on in every city.

I got an axe and spear onto the gems outside Yasod but they were killed. The gems are not pillaged yet. Actually these stacks are not being very smart, which is my main complaint about this "improved AI."

Our buddy Pacal comes to the rescue at a great time... we are cash poor. I used some of the money to upgrade a warrior who actually just got a promotion by finishing off a wounded Incan chariot.

Here are Ragnar's troops.

We're actually not that threatened from him. I hustled a few archers up north and popped out some spears to counter the chariots if they attack. Our problem really is finishing off the Incas while and until we can get peace from Ragnar. Cuzco just has too much cultural pressure but it's worth having right now. It's taking a while to get catapults and swords down south to take out the archers on hills in other cities.

Looks like we are close to a Great General, what are we going to do with him? I like settling him in the capital in the few games I played but never had warlords so don't have too much experience with them.

EDIT:Am I up now?

Yeah I forgot to mention the GG is due next battle. I like to use the first one for a Warlord and then settle the rest, but either way is fine with me. Maybe if we can attach him to a swordsman we can hurry the demise of the Incas. I believe the Dyes city is actually better protected. Ragnar has a swordsman in that area in the jungles but I sent a woodsman axe to defend. I also have a couple more archers built in that city. If he had just made haste straight toward our capital with those two stacks, we could have been toast.

dl I believe you are up next unless vovan returns...

Save

Turn 1:

IBT:
Vikings attack, lose the first axe but our archers hold, they lose everyone but that first axe

Turn 2:
Cortez heads for the capital, the winning axe is killed by a spear, all 4 archers in the capital get next city defense

IBT:
Our iron was cut so no more swords

Turn 5:
Incas have a lowbowman
Code of Laws is in go for Civil Service, trade CoL with Mayas for Poly and Mono and 100 gold

Turn 6:
Raze Ollaytantello, our science is less then 20%
Everyone has Monarchy

Turn 10:
We have started bonbarding Incas Judeism city, have a large stack outside of it as well, might be able to take next turn with all the units that arrived there this turn
Vikings are willing to talk for the first time (wonder if its the few units I put near his city)

Notes:
I say we take Judeism and raze the one Vikings city, get Vikings to give us monarchy and Incas to give us Feudialism
One or two cities are even building buildings now because economy is bad
Next turn player have fun

if so, i wouldnt be able to play until tuesday late (midnightish), trip for Labor Day and I dont think that I would get a chance in that time to play.

Whack, I am away for a few days and look what happenes.... Geez...

Nice going guys... I dont like the premmise of fighting LBs... but if thats the way it is...

I would build any structures just yet... Just focus on one thing = War, I know the econ is suffering... but not focussing will only get us in deeper. Finish building a solid army of Cats + others then revolt to OR + HR (if we have that) and start building infra everywhere, Dont go half half wasting our Police state bonus and/or OR bonus.

Scuba I don't mind the wait if others don't - we are going at a good pace and the holiday is expected. I agree 100 percent with namliaM let's try to focus on war. Longbows are a problem but with swords and cats they will be beatable if he doesn't have too many and his economy is suffering.

Well guys I am back from my trip (real nice, cabin on the water) about 2 hours ago, pretty late but eh :( I do have school/work tomorrow, but ill try to fit it in after work (4-midnight) In the meantime, I'd like a collected post of what our next move is war wise and everything. Ill be honest, I dont have a lot of experience with the two-front war system. Most of the games I play I havent been dogpiled and would like to get better at this. So discussion please :)

Listen, Im at school right now, i get out at 7:30 tonight but no one has posted since my last post. Please someone put it all together what the group wants in this turnset.

fair enough. i shall hold off on playing till midnight tonight. I think that give plenty of time to get a compiled formulated strategy together. If the way I'm asking for this is weird/outofplace for SG's please tell me. I just figured that before crucial turnsets like these (i.e. two wars... oh wait, we have that!) we would definatly want a calculated plan of attack.

Ok, here are my thoughs:

Take the holy city, then peace with HC for Monarchy and whatever. Alternatively, take or raze the other city next to Hari before peace.

Build all cats and when we have a stack of 6-8 send them with some axes/swords to Ragnar. He has an invisible city next to us, grabbing rice, gems and copper; take this city, raze the other one, then reevaluate. But we should hurt Ragnar before accepting peace.

Pacal is running away with tech, we should keep an eye on him. We also is starting to have culture problems in Hari.

Again, this may be a matter of personal oppinion, but I like to have more cats than ground troops, I suicide a lot of cats attacking.

What I liked was war with Viking and a peace treaty that gave us Monarchy before peace with Incas. Therefore we can get feudalism from the Incas.
