V24 Bugs/crashes reporting thread

Yes. In other saves, I've left it for hours without result. This is the third - I was content to leave it for several minutes (other turns took under 30 seconds).

Just to clarify - SVN version? (if so what rev) or V24? Any unusual options (especially a tile stack limit - I keep recommending people don't use that since it is known to cause hangs)?

On the latest SVN (plus some changes I have not yet pushed, but not aimed at this issue so it would be highly coincidental if they were why), with default options, it plays through fine for me.
 
Two small bugs.

1) When a volcano event happens, it takes the player to the site of the event, even when he can't see it.

2) The Charge and Formation promotions seem to be available from the start (well after the strength II promotion).

Playing with the latest SVN.

I've been useing the xptile option; if thats the stack limit you mentioned, then that would likely be it - loading now. Thanks for all the help - sorry it was over such a small thing after all.
 
Using SVN from about an hour ago 3151 I think. I got TXT_KEY messages for all of the volcano events and one for SETBACK_1. They're kind of impossibly long, but I wrote down one of them:
TXT_KEY_EVENT_VOLCANO_TRIGGER_ACTIVETXT_KEY_EVENTTRIGGER_VOLCANO_ACTIVE.
The others all looked like they might have underscores _ missing, or were run together, but I don't know what these are supposed to look like.

Also I tried to restart using perfectmongoose and the game just hung (not responding). That option worked for me several weeks ago, but I was trying to remember whether it was that or planet generator 68 that I had been impressed by.

Edit. I loaded the game and immediately backed out because I had forgotten to set my viewport parameters. When I ran the game after restartng my computer, events were reported correctly from what I saw, so this might be related to the caching thing.

I've been having problems with both of them for a while now (I've never gotten PG to work at all*). Though I haven't tried either with SVNs since about a week ago, but I doubt anything has changed that would have affected either one since then. As you said, PM hangs, but IIRC PG crashes.

*possibly because of options I set in it, but if I can't set options to what I like it is kind of pointless to use that mapscript rather than another one
 
I can say without a doubt that Plant Generator, just doesNOT work the way it is supposed to, it recalculates things way different for some reason, and doesn't place resources on the map in a good manner either.
 
This is kinda odd. The pathing says it's taking a right angle-path to attack a unit it can reach in one move diagonally. Also, I'm bumping the revealed tiles issue and the Great Wall of Viewports issue, to make sure they don't get buried.

I did some more experimenting, and I can confirm that it will display the unrevealed tiles for a short time. This only happens when the Viewport auto-shift happens, switching via the Military Advisor works fine. The first screen is right after the shift, and the next two show the progression down to black, and proves that the tiles that should be invisible are revealed for a short time. If there is no way to fix this, this could be a real killer for Viewports.:( I also attached the save those pics originated from.

Look at the minimap. I'm pretty sure it is smaller in the second pic than in the first. Also, in the second pic the map ends at smaller X dimensions than in the first pic I'm pretty sure.

Also, did you figure out anything to deal with the revealed-tiles bug? If you don't, please don't feel pressured, I can deal with it manually by closing my eyes for the time being.;)

Another Viewports bug here. The first pic shows a viewport at 48x32 tiles, and as you can see the minimap has issues with the size of the viewport. Then, when I shift via the Military Advisor, the viewport is all of the sudden bigger?! (60x40 I think) This is a bug, but if I'm right we may be able to switch viewports sizes somehow.:eek: Save attached.

So what? Both ways of doing it use up all your movement due to the desert, so they are entirely equivalent. The right angle is slightly better because it gives you site on an extra tile in the intermediary posiion as a side effect.

Edit - I'm about to look at the false-reveal thing BTW.

Oh, I didn't know that it was actually helping me. Also, it seems that the Great Wall of Viewports issue is actually a bunch of Black Terrain on the edge of a viewport, Psicorps' issue was the same one I was reporting.

1) I can't build more than 9 cities. The message I get is "... because of Chiefdom... more than 6 cities". Which is wrong on two counts. :)

2) With Auto-end turns with no decisions I do not get to see the tech it always flashes up and away as if I had pressed enter. This is annoying. I have not turned off auto end turn to see if it happens then also but will now.

3) Also the last move of the turn freezes the graphics a bit, and any messages from that move don't appear until the beginning of the next turn.

My guess would be this is a bug in recording some aspect of the city limit correctly in the new caching code AIAndy added recently

This is a known bug that has been reported before with the auto-end turn mechanism. One day I'll fix it

This is a consequence of using 'minimize AI turn time' I suspect (are you using that option?). The way it works is by not retruning out to the game engine to give it time to waste on things like animations and so on during the AI turn. A side effect is that the engine cannot update messages and so on either - the trade off is your call via that option (speed with some clunkyness, or slower turns)
 
Hi there,

Is C2C running in Crossover for Mac supported? :)

I've been playing more than a thousand turns of r2972 with almost no trouble. Then the game started crashing at the very end of loading the save file. There is no error: the progress bar and black background just disappear. Neither Crossover nor Steam crashes.

The game still plays fine on a Windows 7 box.

Updating the game to r3138 didn't help.

The Crossover is version 11.2. The Mac has 8 gb of RAM. The "bottle" is Win95.

Managed to get myself a Great Prophet and went to found a faith, in this case Druidic Traditions. The GP was consumed and the faith founded but I then got an error message as shown below.

After I clicked out of those two screens and ended the turn the game crashed. I've attached the save game with the Great Person in place to found the faith.

Hope you can resolve this one and it's not another issue with my system.
