V30 Plans

My plans:
  • Infrastructure for and basic initialization of S&D AI (because I said I would)
  • Performance and maybe memory usage

Some of the performance work I have in mind will involve some multi-threading in certain areas.
 
Is THIS all coding stuff that needs to be done for MT then?

You mean is this 'all of the coding work' or is it 'all coding work' that is needed?

It's all DLL coding work that is needed, and no this is not going to be all possible multithreading, just some limitted usage.

Does the multithreading mean that there will need to be new coding conventions for different things in the DLL? Or is it too soon to know?

Also, I should add that sometime this cycle I intend to start a discussion of things that begin to go wrong balance-wise (as opposed to crashing or bugs) in the Industrial and later eras, and try and fix as many of those as possible. This is with the intention of allowing games to go farther down the tech tree, which is a prerequisite for Multi-Maps being at all useful.
 
Question when is Pollution due for an Overhaul? because it's pretty tame and boring how it is now the buildings make me yawn as the cities most likely to be effected by it are the ones i have buildings preventing :yuck: and :mad:

Well that will be what the discussion thread is for. We already fixed the costs so that buildings and units cost something reasonable later on but other balance issues are still way out of whack that far along. I'll set that up later this week.

The problem is we get complains for both. Some say its too much and others not enough. And we still have to consider what the more advanced disease stuff will due to balance too.

As I have said many times, its very hard to balance things when everything is constantly changing. Its like trying count your chickens before they have hatched.
