VB2-Mayan Melee

1250 AD (0)
Looks bad, not enough Cavalry avalaible, Pikemen at sight, check what I can get for peace:
4 workers and WM, they are poor and will be poor so I doubt we can get too much better deals :lol:
It’s a deal, let’s build up our army again and attack with artillery support, no rush, we will win surely if we can get UN (BTW do we have a bad reputation?)

The Save

Initial thoughts
Steam Power in 5, which means the decision on whether to go to
Scientific Method and advance to Electronics to get Hoover's or
get Factories now. We don't have Nationalism thought, need
rifles, Byzantines and Portugal got em already. Hmm.

There are fireworks going off everywhere! What has Ville been feeding these Mayans?!?

I take a peek at our Navy... still looking... oh my. A bunch of land
lubbers are yees? Well, guess we didn't really need one before
now. Probably don't need much of one if the priority is to clean
Austria off our continent first. Still, would be nice to have a
couple ships afloat.

Steam in 1, readying the workers and backing science to 50%
for some end-o-the research cash.

Drop Lux to 10%

IBT
Steam Power > Electricity
Going straight to Scientific Method. I'm going to trade Steam for
Nationalism post haste (whispers from crowd about giving away
the farm) and hopefully by the time we've got Electricity someone
will have Medicine and we can use Tikal (Palace in 41) to get
Theory of Evolution (which I recommend we take straight to
Electronics and start work on Hoover's). If we can pull off ToE we
will have enough tech to trade for the other side of the tree.

Copan: Univ>Bank
Quirigua riots. :o
Byzantines produce Smiths :(

1325AD - 5
Portugal: Trade Steam for Nationalism, WM, 8g, 8gpt

Hittites: RoP get 3g, WM, I figure the Hittites are the pivot point
on their continent. In a battle with either super power, we want
to control the Hittites.

IBT
Byzantines bought us an Embassy

1350AD - 10
All quiet.

Parting thoughts
Railroad main line is just under 50% complete.
Workers on a line will end up in the next big city for your
direction. I think the only gap you'll find is between Copan and
Quirigua.

I take it we're going for democracy?

I may have been remiss in not checking in about the gov't change. Just figured that we're in a bit of a builder period getting our infrastructure and military to match what's going on on the other continent. Finishing off Austria shouldn't cause us too much war weariness.

We can kick it to something more aggressive when we start taking on the other side in order to sustain a longer war.

Interested in hearing other views tho, just working from my own narrow experience with gov'ts. Is there some penalty for being so large that would have benefited us staying in Republic over going to Democracy? Other benefits to Republic? Did I blunder?

I don't think so. We're in build and research mode anyway, so I think it is a good move.

OTOH Fascism is also good gov. 200% Workers and same corruption as republic. But also best gov for war so no need to change again

Pre-flight – 1350 AD – Looks like we get electricity in 45 turns no matter where our science slider is. We’ll put it at 0%. Zero???? That doesn’t make sense. …Ah we’re in anarchy. Must have killed that brain cell. Gotta be careful with them, I don’t have too many left.

Not a lot to do.

IBT – The Inca want to talk. Trade maps? You only have 22G? I don’t think so.

1. 1355 AD – Here’s a thought: Mayans in Space! We could do that.

Due to the auto worker moves that was a short turn.

IBT – The Mayan Democracy is born.

2. 1360 AD – Science to 80%, Electricity in 5.

Change a couple of builds and MM accordingly. Amsterdam starts a Bank. Hurry the temple in Graz, and since there are just way too many grumpy faces in the city, they find their wienershnitzal missing from their ice boxes.

4. 1370 AD – See 1365 AD.

IBT – Chichen: Rifle=> Bank
Quirigua: Library=> Univ.
Byz start US.

5. 1375 AD – Strategic rail net is almost complete. We can now defend any part of our empire. Science down 10%.

Theodora won’t sell us Industrialization.

6. 1380 AD – Science down another 10%

IBT – Electricity comes in. Medicine next, due in 5 @ +20 gpt.
7. 1385 AD – Trade time with Theodora: For Furs and Electricity we get Industrialization, 151G & 34 GPT.

Change Chichen, Copan, Amsterdam, Lagertero and Palenque over to Factories

IBT – Our Frigate gets attacked by a pirate. Then I see a Byzantine Droman move. Then our Frigate is sunk by another pirate. :mad: Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out who commissioned those pirates.

8. 1390 AD – More railing.

IBT – The Hittites would like an MPP. Let me think about it.
Arnhem: Market=> Library
Piedras: Library=> market

9. 1395 AD - *yawn*

10. 1400 AD - :sleep:

After Action Report: All cities are now attached to the Military Rail Net. Now we just need to rail our core. It would be really nice to get a second core up and running, but we’ll need a leader.

Medicine due in two. Another five for Sci Meth and we should be able to build ToE. Don’t sell Medicine until ToE is assured.
